I upgraded from the bose QC45 to the QuietComfort Ultra headphones. These sound good. Noise cancelling seem just slightly better than the QC45. Immersive sound feature sounds good but i can not notice a lot of difference between the less expensive QC45 headphones and the brand new ultras. I do not like the button functionality on the Ultra's as much as the QC45. It is not as easy to use and switch modes. At one point when i was attempting to switch modes it announced that it cleared all of my bluetooth connections and i had to completely reset it up. Overall the sound is still good from what i am accustomed to but in my opinion are not as user friendly and not worth the increase in price for very similar sound.

Bose has done it again! The design and look of the Quiet Comfort Ultra Headphones are perhaps the most aesthetically pleasing of any of the long line of Bose over the ear products. The fit is comfortable and the headphones are so light that it does not feel like you have them on. You have to spend some time with these headphones to find the sound that works for you. The immersive audio adds a dynamic that makes the headphones practical for every day use and provides a level of noise cancelling never seen before from Bose headphones. However it does take some trial and error to find what sound works for you and the environment that you are listening in. Battery life is outstanding and a massive surprise compared to some other Bose products like the Bose Sport Open Buds. The Bose Music app allows you to control the functionality and make adjustments on the fly. Overall these are next generation headphones that fit the narrative of everyday life in 2023 while providing the comfort and high quality that you expect from Bose. Do spend some time with these headphones to get to know them and to get exactly what you want!

Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra's are Incredible!

Incredible Sound, Incredible Comfort, and Incredible Features/Technology. These headphones are everything you would expect from Bose and much more. There is so much to say about these headphones, but I don’t want to make my review so long that you don’t read it. (Smile) I will try to give you what I think are the most important reasons to make you consider buying them if you are in the market for headphones. I measure 3 most important things when it comes to deciding whether headphones meet my standards and are worth the money it cost to buy them. Those three things are: Sound quality, how comfortable they are to wear for long periods of time, and how useful the features/technology are/is in terms of making my usage experience better. Great technology that doesn’t make the headphones sound better and easier to use is almost pointless in my opinion. I work from home and work 12 to 14 hours a day, I sell Engineering Software, meaning I am on Microsoft Teams/Zoom video calls/Meetings, and traditional phone calls all day with Engineers and their Managers. When I am not talking, I like to listen to music as I work, mostly Jazz. I live for great music, and consider myself a bit of a music aficionado, and or audiophile if you will. So quality reproduction of the music as the artist intended for us to hear it is very important to me. I have had these headphones on my head each day for at least 16 to 17 hours when I combine my usage for work with my personal usage after work, and I can honestly say that the fit is the most comfortable pair of headphones I have ever worn. The cushioning is light while around your ears, yet durable feeling at the same time. The battery life lives up to the claims and beyond, which is a very good quality, you can really get your daily long hours use out of them. The fact that the headphones can be connected simultaneously to two devices using the Bose Music App is a great feature for me because I can be listening to music from my phone or through Alexa and also be connected to my work laptop and have the ability to switch between them seamlessly, the technology built into the headphones automatically stops the music and answers a phone call or video call on my laptop, then resumes the music when I end the call. Additionally, any number of other Bluetooth Devices can be quickly connected with a toggle within the Bose Music App as well, creating quick and easy connections to all of your devices. The noise cancellation is second to none. Nothing going on around me can be heard by people on the other end of the call, moreover, also making the sound that you hear flawless without the intrusion of outside noise. The buttons have a very good tactile feel and are simple and easy to use, not overly complicated to access the many functions. A simple one, two or three click to maneuver through songs and/ or pause while listening to music, or a quick click to answer or end a call. It also has a small slightly recessed area to slide your finger either up or down to adjust the volume. Honestly, these are good improvements over the touch/feel of maneuvering through things with the other headphones and earbuds. The most important feature of the headphones is how GREAT the music sounds. I own the Bose Noise Cancelling 700 Headphones, Quiet Comfort Earbuds, and QC Earbuds II, so my bar for sound quality is pretty high. These New Quiet Comfort Ultra Headphones take the sound quality of the music to the next level with the addition of Immersive Audio this feature makes you feel that the music is all around you with depth, it is the closest reproduction to Live music being played right in front of you or all around you I have ever experienced. The one and only thing that I dislike about this feature is that the Bass doesn’t seem to have the exact same punch as when this feature is off. I am truly splitting hairs here trying to find something to dislike about this feature when compared to the regular sound.
I hope I have given you some important Pros as to make for compelling reasons to consider purchasing these headphones. Quite honestly, I had to search for things to dislike about these headphones and didn’t want to create some small things just to have some dislikes/Cons to make my review “seem” more balanced. I have a very high bar when it comes to justifying spending money on headphones, and these Quiet Comfort Ultra Headphones pass with flying colors! I will continue to use these for hours and hours a day and be sure to add to my review in order to be as helpful as possible to those that may be considering purchasing these headphones. As of now, I would highly recommend purchasing these headphones. These are the S-Class of Bose Headphones, for sure!

Out with the Old, In with the New

BACKGROUND / CONTEXT - Own multiple Bose products, including three NC 700s. - 1-5 hour daily use, across home, work, gym, travel, etc. - Multimedia sources: voice calls, music, podcasts, film, audiobooks & movies - Reviewed preview model in late October 2023. - My aim is to compare the QC Ultras and NC 700s directly.
THE PACKAGING (4/5) First thing’s first. packaging for the new QC Ultras is impactful and refreshingly lightweight (more on this later). The slip case — which announces that “Sound is Power” in bold Bose font — juggles Apple-style minimalism and playful Y2K-era motifs. While some customers who gravitate towards premium products may mourn the sturdiness of the old NC 700 packaging, it is not lost on many of us that waste disposal for premium product packaging can be truly depression-inducing. This problem seems to be registered by Bose; a message on the box itself encourages customers to recycle the simple, easy-to-disassemble box after extracting their new headphones.
THE CASE (4/5) My first impression when holding the new case — in all its bright, minimal glory — was just how light it was. “Dide Bose forget to pack the actual headphones?” I thought to myself. A quick unzipping of the case proved that first impression wrong. Headphones sat snuggly (if a bit contorted) in the appropriate slots and a helpful USB to USB-lightning cable was tucked into the side pocket. The helpful pocket flap on previous versions of the NC 700 is missed. Nevertheless, the case is extremely effective in its light sleekness.
THE HEADPHONES (5/5) …but forget the case and packaging. What are you actually buying? What did I think of the headphone hardware? The White Smoke model I received shone brightly in its case, asking me to retrieve it from its contorted position and to pair it to a device immediately. The headphones are easy to adjust and extremely lightweight (see above commentary on “premium feel” vs. sustainable use of materials); they sit lightly on one’s head and seem to avoid the migraine-friendly suction of the NC 700s.
While I initially confused the new multi-purpose button for the old NC 700 power button, I soon came to learn of its new functionality (play/pause, skip, shortcut). Some listeners may miss the ease of the light tap-and-swipe system of the old NC 700s; however, this change seems in-keeping and perfectly timed for the inclusion of a multi-function button on the new iPhone 15. The volume swipe is also adjusted and requires that listeners find a new, curved strip on the back-side of the right speaker. The physical motion of sliding one’s finger along this strip is satisfying but seems clumsy in comparison to swiping one’s finger on the front face of the NC 700 speaker. As I play with these new features in the coming weeks, I will likely post a follow up comment.
SOUND (4/5) On first listen, the listening experience of the QuietComfort Ultras does not seem to suffer from their light and looser fit. The headphones get the job done on a number of fronts. Sound is isolated. Strings soar. Bass booms. Beats pound and echo from one side of the headphones to the other. Listeners who enjoy layered production will revel in the quality of Bose’s new Immersive Audio setting. Furthermore, Podcasts and audiobooks take on a life of their own in “Still” mode. While this patented system may draw some customers, part of me wonders whether many more would be drawn to the more recognizable Dolby. Unfortunately, Bose continues to struggle in developing a feature that allows smooth and intuitive switching between devices. As I use these headphones for voice and zoom calls in the coming weeks, I will likely post a follow up comment.
OVERALL (4/5) The QC Ultras offer a very positive customer and listener experience. Bose can certainly improve on some packaging, hardware and programming elements, but their latest iteration of the QC line represents a unique take on contemporary NCs: they are lean and they are mean. Pound for pound, they appear to be a significant improvement on the NC 700s and a solid contender in the premium NC headphone market. For now, I say out with the old and in with the new.

As always, Bose remains on top with the quality of sound! First of all, I am enjoying listening to the new Bad Bunny "Nadie sabe lo que va a pasa manana" album through these. The sound is rich, I love the noise cancellation because I can hear the lyrics better. I even used them for a 6-hour flight and they worked flawlessly. The sound quality is excellent with a very balanced sound that I appreciate. R&B Hip-Hop or classic rock sounded appropriate with no raspy highs or booming lows. I love how once I put them on, they automatically connect to my iPhone. I don't need to go through the Bose Connect/music app. I have been a fan of this brand for 10+ years. Bose is all I own for sound I'm happy they remain consistent with the quality, longevity of their products, and the best sound!

To begin, the initial setup is simple and straightforward using the app. I was listening to my music and podcasts in less that a minute from unboxing. The intuitive menu on the app makes it easy to customize the EQ, source, and other functions. I enjoy the bass kick it gives. I feel like the immersive option can be improved as there is not much of a difference between the stereo and the immersive function. The headphone also kept disconnecting from my laptop Bluetooth connection. Overall, this headphone is a much more improved product compared to my previous Bose NC700 headphones.
