Bleeds everywhere

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a roll of the regular scotch blue painter's tape, but it was taking a bit of the ceiling paint when I removed it, so I decided to purchase the delicate surface with edge-lock. I cannot express my disappointment in this product. (except for the not removing ceiling paint part....it was okay there...it only removed a few small areas in comparison with the regular blue tape). The biggest problem was the amount of bleeding. I had previously taped one wall with the regular blue tape before purchasing the "delicate surface" tape. I then taped the other 3 walls with the new tape. Then, I painted as I did in the adjoining bedroom (in which I had used the regular blue tape). I cannot express the horror when I pulled the delicate tape and found it had bled under the surface of the tape all over my ceiling. Now, I have to go to the expense of repainting the ceiling in those 3 areas. The regular blue tape, although it took more of the delicate ceiling paint, came off like a charm with a crisp line. Will not ever pay extra to purchase this type again!!

I miss the dispenser

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We still have tape with the small hole in the middle, and have a dispenser that is useful for long straight lines. We can no longer find the old tape that fits that dispenser. The new tape with the large hope in the middle does not have a dispenser. We love the tape, but miss the dispenser.

I was very surprise to know how easy to use this product is. You can apply to the surface very easily and peal when you are done with no problem. Just make sure there is no "holes" on the edge of the tape to ensure paint does get inside.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product on a wing in a hospital that was very delicate items around the paint area. The paint stayed on the wall and trim and not on the delicate items that were left in the area.

This tape left adhesive all over the floor no matter how long I left it on. One day or one hour.

Response from scotchblue.comBy ScotchBlue™ Marketing team, December 14, 2011
Hi, Sorbak11, we're sorry to hear of your experience and would not expect the tape to perform as you have described. The ScotchBlue™ Masking Tape for Delicate Surfaces #2080 is designed to remove cleanly for up to 60 days and is the only tape recommended for use on wood floors. To remove the residue, we suggest using a 50/50 ammonia and hot water solution or ammonia-based cleaner with a thick soft towel or soft bristle brush. Without having the tape in hand it is difficult to determine why this happened. We hope you've received our email offering additional assistance. Thank you!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ok...thought about not bad mouthing a tape that has been my faux painting friend for years, but I have to. I have found the new version of the tape unrolls more difficultly with curling and an annoying stickiness . I have had more problem with bleeding than I ever had before. Maybe I try to challenge the edge lock, but I don't think so, because generally I am painting for others and despise cleaning up after myself. I still think the 3M products are the best, because I have tried the other "edge-lock" products and found them to be just like this new one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently I've been doing some restoration work on pieces that are highly treasured and in order to keep them as pristeen as possible, when I have to paint I'v been using the 2080EL tape to protect adjoining surfaces. No runs, no bleeding, and best of all, it comes off with no residue. Thanks ScotchBlue!
