Dissapointed with 3M

I've been a Pro boat painter and varnisher for many years. Used 3M Blue tape for most of the years. It seems that the Blue is getting worse and worse. It leaves behind the adhesive and the requires extra work in detailing the boat. It is especially true on gel-coat and on sanded surfaces. If it is not detailed very thoroughly and carefully the dust and dirt will stick to the adhesive causing nasty looking tape width dark lines and irate calls from yacht owners. The extra time to detail is really a pain and unneeded extra expense for the owners or myself if it is a flat rate job. I'll be finding a new tape to use.

I have used this on fairly fresh paint and polyutherthane without any issues. With the edge lock you have to make sure the tape edge is firmlysecured on the surface

Lasting quality

Working in the southwest part of Louisiana. Humidity and my customers battling this with high volume of air conditioning. The tape holds its edge beautifully. I thought I might run into a problem with the extreme humidity change. Especially when I had to leave product on for over 24 hours. Thanks for offering a quality product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used it in my newly re done mudroom to paint the trim, excited to finally be finished I remove the tape and it ruined the paint on the wall I did a week before. Then I used it again on a furniture project and there's not even a straight line, edge lock does not work, look at that paint under the tape.... Ruined my wall and my furniture

Doesn't work

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product does not work. I painted stripes on my son's bedroom wall several years ago with standard blue painter's tape and it came out perfect (blue & red picture). He is moving to a new room and I wanted to replicate it without the red stripe and decided to upgrade to Edge Lock tape this time (blue & grey picture) -- it came out terrible! Think I need to paint over it-- what a waste!!

I used this tape which I’ve used before on walls but this time I used on hardwood floors to keep the brown paper down and it left racing stripes everywhere I used it. Do not I repeat do not use this on floors as it says you can.

This product is the best on the market for taping before painting

In the past, I listened to my husband's harsh words while taping before painting - trying to get the line straight and without bubbles. Then he painted. We waited for the paint to dry - then the moment of truth - how much of the paint would peel off with the tape and more harsh words from my husband. Wow - silence filled the air!!!

great for painting stripes over fresh paint

my work required me to paint stripes of 2 different colors over fresh paint. I had a limited amount of time to finish the job. This tape worked perfectly over paint that had only dried for about 24 hours. When I pulled it I was pleasantly surprised to see nice crisp lines and no paint peeled. I used this on smooth and lightly textured walls both.
