This device works, and the industrial design feels pretty nice. But it feels like a tech gadget (not a good thing). You have to create an account to use the app at all, ridiculous for a kitchen device. Thankfully, you can operate the device without the app. Frustratingly, the screen turns off after a few minutes, forcing you to walk over and press the power button to read the temperature. The ambient sensor is also bizarrely slow: in a 300+ degree preheated oven, it climbs puzzlingly spent from room temperature to the actual oven temperature. When compared to other kitchen timers and food thermometers that get out of your way and just work, this one is imbued with the needy design patterns endemic in tech companies: forced login, overpowered in ways that aren't useful, and letting secondary functions get in the way of nailing the basics.

This is the best thermometer I have ever used! I put it in the meat before I put the meat in the air fryer and just leave it until I hear the beep to remove the meat. I love that it tells me to remove the meat before it has reached the specified temp and then tells me when to serve it.
