It didn’t help with my increasing my speed

I bought the new modem hoping it would increase my internet speed. It didn’t make much difference of my really old modem . So I am going to return it

The NETGEAR Wifi equip.ent has been effective for multiple users in my home. It also saves me money from the cable company. Is there any way to use it without the cable box?
