I have had it for four years and it's great

Love this product. It is over four years old and still works like it is band new. The only problem that I have had is that the ice at times gets stuck. One morning my husband left the door with the ice maker in it cracked, which allowed for the ice to melt and I didn't think to wipe the water out before I closed the door and as a result the ice maker's door froze shut. I was able to get it opened and it is working well. Overall, great product!

Good, but expected a bit more for the price

The good things about the unit are:
- water filter access
- shelf arrangement
- drawer size and ease of use
- interior lighting
- easy to use temperature settings on door front

The things I did not like are:
- no light for water dispenser (not fun when you overfill a glass of water at 2AM because you cannot see it filling)
- poor water catch tray for water dispenser
- poorly latching door for ice bucket (door have often opened left fridge door to find the ice door open - it catches on the opposing door and I worry it will eventually break off because of the repeated door jams)
- poor ice performance (slow to make ice and the ice tends to "stick" together - I end up slapping the bucket to break it up)
- plastic covering for the new unit was pinched under the handles, some of which we could not remove - it will be there forever

Slight Modifications Needed

I can't say enough good things about the interior of this fridge: very constant temperature, adjustable half shelves for individualized storage, no seal leaks in 5 years of use, easy to access/replace the water filter, large storage bins on the doors and inside, quick ice maker with large storage container when family and friends are around, can hold/store extremely large amounts of food. The only negatives I've found are that, although the bottom freezer is a dream, I have had a few items drop behind the drawers, and when they do, it's hard to retrieve them and you can't shut the freezer until you do. The exterior surface holds onto and shows every fingerprint, drip, etc., and is difficult to keep looking clean, even with stainless steel cleaner wipes. Also, the access port to the ice and water dispenser is not tall enough for full sized glasses, so you have to get your ice/water in a shorter glass, then transfer it to the glasses being used. I wish this model offered shaved ice in addition to the half moon cubes it produces. For the most part, though, it's a wonderful product that I enjoy using.

Stopped working after 4 short years

We've had our LG for only 4 years and during that time 1 drawer broke (don't know how) and now it stopped working all together. I have never been so disgusted and upset with an appliance breaking after just 4 short years. I originally bought it because I thought it was a good deal for the money but shortly realized that you get what you pay for. We are by no means rough with our fridge and 1 of the drawers broke last year. It very easily got 2 small dents in the front , the ice maker jams up and won't give you ice all the time, there is no light to get your water/ice and now of all things it started making noise in the middle of the night and by morning was no longer cooling and crapped out. I have never had a problem with any appliance I have owned in such a bad way like this LG French door refrigerator. I would have to suggest to stay away from LG now.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
