The Shark Stratos in the best corded household vacuum. I have had many vacuum's in my life: Kenmore, Bissel, Kirby, you name it but no other vacuum in in the league of the Shark Stratos. Be aware that this isn't some lightweight wand.

The holy grail of vacs!

I'm a self employed house cleaner. Have been using commercial vacs for years. When one starts to get old, I use it as my house vac and buy a new one for work. Well, my house vac is getting really worn out and I wasn't ready to get a new on for work. Saw a review for this (Shark people, please give Freaking Reviews guy a bonus) and decided to give it a go. The swivel head and smaller head "footprint" are awesone! I'm not normally a fan of bagless vacs, but this one has large capacity.
The stuff it is picking up, wow! Our house's carpet was NOT maintained well by previous owners. I have cleaned this thing so many times! And, we have always had a LOT of pets. The stuff I'm getting up I think has been there for years! And my work vac is in the shop, so I used this at a clients house the other day. Two clean adults and one cat. I filled the canister! Again, it's sucking clear to the padding! On average, at work, I change the bag about every two weeks. Me thinks I'm not getting all the ickies. :)
I would caution, though, do not try to suck up a broken dish. We didn't realize a couple chucks of the dish got stuck in the soft roller. I did scratch the floor and ruined the soft roller, not the vacs fault, user error. And, if you've ever used a vac with a tube and the tube just sucks up upon itself, making it useless, this one doesn't do that. If you are trying to decide what vac to buy, this is great. What ever you do, don't get a D (you know), they are designed horribly and made cheaply.

This is the best vacuum that had so far

I brought this vacuum two weeks ago, so far i am still trying to make sure this is what i want. I give it a thumbs up. I have a Kirby much more expensive but i am here to tell you save your money on Kirby and invest this vacuum much more cost effective. Better suction, batter warranty this vacuum does not need a tune up like Kirby. This vacuum gets 5 stars.

I love this vacuum so far!! It’s my 3rd shark vac (2nd for home & 1 at work) & definitely the best yet. I especially love the scented pod and self cleaning brush roll.
That being said, I feel like the main stick is made of a plastic that just needs to be stronger. I was most excited about the powered lift-away feature and I still use it everyday but not for the reasons I had intended. The canister weighs more than the stick by a lot so the vac tends to feel front heavy. Not a big deal really if you don’t have to carry it much though. Other than that, it’s great! The suction is extremely strong & it’s impressive how well it cleans our thick pile carpets. I’m happy with the purchase and confident in the brand.

Almost perfect

The light on the front really highlights dust and dirt on your hardwood floors, though I would recommend having low light in the house when vacuuming because you can see it much better (hardwood only). The suction is tremendously strong, but it also sucks up cords, and you can't use it on small rugs, because it sucks those up as well. The fact that you can get under most furniture is great, but carrying the canister around is a bit burdensome. I don't like where the cord winds up on the side, because it interferes with the canister when removing and replacing it. The hose is not really long enough to do anything meaningful, especially when the canister is removed to get to hard to reach places. The canister falls over and drags if you're not constantly holding/moving it with you. It definitely gets my floors cleaner than my old vac. I could actually feel the difference when walking on my floors after using it. The attachments are great, but the fact that they don't attach to the vacuum itself (on the back or sides), and you have to retrieve them individually from wherever you have them stored, is also a negative for me. It DOES clean extremely well. I will say that. All in all, I would suggest this vacuum solely based on its cleaning power, and the fact that it DOES pick up hair wonderfully. And hair actually does not seem to wind around the brushes.

We bought the Stratos to upgrade from our previous Shark. The Stratos has great suction, and the soft roller in the front doesn’t get clogged with dog hair as our previous Shark did. We would constantly have to stop, remove the roller and pull out the clumps of dog hair. (We have 5 long haired dogs!). But with the Stratos, it doesn’t clog! It has awesome suction, as I mentioned previously. At first I thought it was “dragging” as I pushed the head across the tile floor. But then I turned the machine off, and it was easier to push. Simple one hand operation to remove the collection canister and dump it. One down side, the machine is noticeably heavier than our previous Shark upright, which is why I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars.
