Doesn't work with Nest App

While I guess there is nothing wrong with the thermostat function, I was surprised to find out that this thermostat DOES NOT work with the nest app, only the Google Home app (that has about 1/4 the functionality of the Nest App). Now to view this one room (thermostat) of my house I have to use the Home app and the Nest App for the other 4 rooms. If the Home app would show basic device info on the default (1st) page it wouldn't be so bad, however to view current temp, set temp (or actually any information at all) you have to click into each device separately. Not really a 'Home' app, as you can't see the information on your whole home with the app.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good thermostat and app but room for improvement

The price point and features on the 2020 model were very competitive and I bought 4 to cover 2 homes. The wiring was easy and the Nest even worked on one system without a 5th common wire.There are 2 screws that came in the box. It was unclear if these screws were meant for drywall without a stud behind -- the instructions did not mention these screws. I put in other drywall anchors just to be sure of a secure fit. The Nest wall footprint is very small -- so unless your old thermostat was taken off when your wall was last painted, you will either need a wall plate to cover the old footprint or you need to paint the old footprint.The mechanical user interface could be improved. Using the slide finger method does not work consistently. Swiping to control temp is often interpreted as a finger tap to select heat/cool. Lastly, setting the daily schedule is a pain having to go through each day and then not being able to copy day to day nor copy a Nest1 to a second Nest2.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Comparing Nest Thermostat E and Nest Thermostat

I had Nest Thermostat E and Nest app, which worked great. I got new Nest Thermostat when i subscribed to ohmhour. Nest Thermostat works with google home thermostat. I did not like navigation of Nest Thermostat device or google home app. I expected the new version to have touch. Right side navigation is bad. When I try changing, it keeps moving back and forth. Hard to control it.Same with google thermostat app. Nest app was very good.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Started working right away

I needed a new thermostat for an in law suite and this Nest product for the bill. Installation was made easy by the animated step by step instructions. Not long after the thermostat was installed I started getting suggestions on how to save energy.

Looked great, Function let me down

I purchased this next thermostat for my new house, and it looks beautiful on the wall. However we found rapidly that the installation instructions and setup process did not play nicely with the type of system that we have. The type of system we have is supported according to the nest compatibility checker, as well as the individual I spoke to. However it did not control the thermostat in inefficient or effective manner. Overall, I was very displeased with the thermostats functionality. I returned it and purchased another manufacturers Smart thermostat, and it has been working with our system since. I am certain the nest has its place and would work very well for many people, however I was unhappy with the way it performed and the setup and configuration.
