[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy...this unit is by far one of the easiest WiFi thermostats I have ever set up. The app interface works great and I’ll will get a few more for the office. I have only had it installed for about 2 weeks but I’m impressed to date. Install including the app set up was about 30 minutes and I’m fairly handy

Efficient and easy

Easy to install, easy to use, and gives me the smart feature I was missing in my traditional one. As you can control it even when you are away from home or by setting up home/away routines, certainly a step closer to cheaper power bill and greener environment!I love it

Great for the Basics

I bought the Nest so have remote operation of my shop and data on the furnace runtimes and current temperatures. It does exactly that. I am not using any kind of temp programming. I have the Nest Learning thermostat in my other building (rotating chrome ring) which is quite a bit more expensive for the same basic use. I was very happy with the new Nest Thermostat controls (sliding your finger on the right side) and the effective display. One drawback might be if you are left handed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nest thermostat 2020

Purchased this model on January 22nd. By February 26th we had an issue with it. The team at google was very helpful but could not fix the issue as they determined it to be a software issue that needed an update. I was told the software team was working on this, but it could be a month before the update was ready. I was advised to return the thermostat by google so I did so. I purchased the nest learning thermostat in hopes I do not have any issues with it. I am hoping google will help with the cost difference between the two thermostats given the issues I had with the previous one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nest Thermostat

In this age of self-supported consumer products, I was appalled at the lack of installation instructions provided with this thermostat. What is provided, was found to be confusing with critical details omitted. For instance, the QR code required for the network setup is not referenced until the unit is installed on the wall - not to mention its location on the back of the unit is never disclosed. Lack of a model number also contributed to my frustration - the Google Nest web reference appear to be independent from the Nest website. It took way longer to complete the install than it should have - but it is working to my satisfaction.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good, but.....

My previous Nest Thermostat was the original model, which is now). called the Nest Learning Thermostat. Thought I would save a few bucks, since I never used any of the fancy learning stuff, and got this less-capable model. It works good, but adjusting of temperature up and down by scrolling on the right side doesn't work very well for me - very sensitive and difficult to set the exact temperature I want. I prefer the previous model in which the whole bezel moves (very easy to set temperature). Really just a minor issue. Very easy to install/set-up.
