Overprice smart thermostat

This is my third different brand thermostat they are all the same practically. The difference is just the setup and connection points. The nest was the most expensive I had so far. The interface on the device itself isn’t very good. It’s more work to go thru the adjustment than my other smart thermostat. Overall, I would skip this and buy a cheaper one unless you rely on the presence activity monitor. This is a cool feature but the google home/away feature only works 30% of the time
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Terrible

All wires were there including the “C”. Confirmed with an HVAC tech and and electrician it yet 2 of the 3 stats were not detecting C or white wire

I Wish It Was Better

I have been using Nest products for years, installing all three versions of the Nest thermostats in my home and family member's homes. The 2020 Nest Thermostat is a big decrease in quality of the thermostat in my opinion. My least favorite things:-Mandatory C wire-No base plate-Batteries are not rechargeableTo make matters worse 2 of the 3 thermostats I received had to be replaced. I will say that is was cool they identified there was a problem with the thermostat and emailed me about it before I even had a chance to call customer service. That is the type of quality I have come to expect and thoroughly enjoy from Nest/Google products.The Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen and Nest E both get 5 stars but the Nest Thermostat 2020 I wish it was better.

Depending on your heating and cooling system, you may need a common wire installed to be compatible with the Nest Thermostat. Very convenient

I can't say anything bad about the product itself but the setup with the app on a pixel phone was somewhat troublesome, the part that was most difficult during setup was trying to picking the country of where you are setting this up was very glitchy on the app, took several attempts. Other than that it's been great to control my home thermostat when I'm away from home and set schedules is great!
I would recommend this to a friend!

and night time setting. It is really user-friendly.

Awful experience

Let me start by saying that we have 2 older nest thermostats that we love and installed ourselves in our house in Louisiana. I attempted to install one in my parent’s house in PA. First, it turned the system on, but blew cold air instead of hot. Then, we called installation/tech support while the hvac service guys were here. We got nowhere. The support team was over their head and couldn’t answer questions from the hvac guys or give us any information that would help us install it properly. Finally, we gave up and installed a different brand of smart thermostat just to have our system working properly again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
