Almost Perfect

Installation of the thermostat was straightforward, although the configuration steps were confusing. This is because there seem to be two possible configuration paths; one uses the Nest installation app (requiring registration and ultimately a frozen web interface, in my experience) or the Google-branded interface. I went backwards and forwards a couple of times before using the Google-branded configuration steps, which worked smoothly. Confusing however.Almost everything else was smooth sailing. The only thing I would highlight is that there is a temptation to use the shiny front screen as a touchpad. It isn't a touchpad, you use the side of the thermostat to scroll up and down and select. No wonder the thermostat screen attracts a lot of fingerprints.

A great investment, easy to install, works great, can control everything with my voice!!! I bought two of them and love them! Integrated with my phone and nest hub.

The fact that it looks like you can turn it but then have to touch a spot on one side to to anything is difficult. Had over a month and still not used to it. Also You can’t use the nest app you HAVE to use Google Home. Makes no sense. I have nothing else I use on google home.

The new Nest Thermostat is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your Nest devices can be set up and controlled in one place.

So far my thermostat has been working great. Its only be about 3 weeks. I just truing figure out how to make changes on the thermostat itself along with my phone appt. Its makes my HVAC work great!

Needs help

First one I got was hacked. Second one works now. What needs to be changed is the heat/cold. I want to select one temperature for it to keep my house at. It can then use heat or cold to keep it. I do not like the 3 degree difference. Also the temp on the device it self is 4 to 6 degrees higher than what it really is. I picked yes to recommend but you need to know the issues . Sorry I can’t hit yes

So far this is just ok. I have had connection issues. Sometimes it has not lowered the temperature while I was away. Def some bugs with this item.

Connectivity issues for Nest Thermostat may be caused by several reasons such as Wi-Fi network congestion, distance of the device from the router, wireless interference with other Wi-Fi hotspots or devices nearby and other Wi-FI settings. Dual band connection should be compatible with Nest Thermostat. 2.4Ghz is more stable compared to 5Ghz especially if there’s a lot of devices connected to the same network at the time and we are glad that you're able to connect it.

Make sure your Home and Away Routines are enabled. You can create Routines in the Home app that can use presence sensing to automatically adjust your home devices when someone comes home and when everyone’s away. You can also use your phone to determine if you are away. For the geofence to enable presence sensing to work properly, you’ll need to make sure that:
- You’ve enabled your phone in presence sensing settings in the Home app.
- You’ve set location permissions for the Home App on your phone to Always on.
- Everyone in your household has enabled their phones in presence sensing settings in the Home app on their own phones.
