Nest thermostat exceeded my expectations

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a thermostat that boasted itself as a "smart" thermostat simply because it had the ability to set a schedule and potentially save energy, but it was too hard to figure out how to do it. This thermostat is the most user friendly that I have ever used! The app completely walks you through the installation process. It tells you exactly which wires go where. The wifi was also hassle-free to set up. The design is very sleek and futuristic. I was going to install it upstairs but wanted it to be seen! One of the best features is the ability to set the thermostat from my mobile device. Now I can change it from work if I forget to turn it off.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good after initial glitch

I bought this cheaper model Nest simply to control my Mr. Heater 50,000 BTU garage heater. I wanted to have the capability to report on usage month after month. I initially set this up and had no issues for the first 3 weeks. I just happened to look over one day and the display lit up and noticed that the battery was basically dead. I called support and they walked me through the troubleshooting as to why the built in rechargeable battery wasn't charging. Long story short, I wired this using 4 pair phone wire. I twisted each pair together, thinking that it would provide a better connection. They informed me that this was not supported and mentioned that using one single 18-25 gauge single solid core wire would suffice for each connection. I simply untwisted each pair and it is working fine today (made the change only a couple weeks ago).

Amazing thermostat

What can I say, set up was super easy and straight forward. It had a couple of updates before start up. But other than that it was a 25 minute install.
