A good upgrade for our thermostat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Nest Thermostat G2 is perfect for our needs. Our house is already equipped with a programmable thermostat and for 10+ years it has worked for us. We have an upstairs and a downstairs control panel. We've never really wrestled with changing the setup that often - we live in Houston, Texas - and there is pretty much maybe a month or two, in each and every year that we have to switch between heating and cooling.. but most times we are cooling. Some winter days we don't even have to change to heating. We pretty much switch the temperature and forget it. Why upgrade the thermostat? Well, we have the Nest Audio and Google Home speakers, and also devices from other smart technology product lines. We have smart speakers, TV, light bulbs, power plugs, doorbell, door locks, security and each family member has at least 2 personal mobile devices to control them, so why not add the home temperature control. Having a smart thermostat will give us access to the programming and set up without having to physically access the control panel attached to the wall. I know it's a rare occasion in our home, but it is sure nice to not get out of bed and stay under the warm blanket when one evening we wake up feeling cold and adjust the thermostat. We're still learning ways on how this upgrade will help us save $$.

Loving these gadgets!

I installed these thermostats myself. No, I am not a "handyman" and actually all thumbs when it comes to things electrical, but these thermostats were so easy to install and set up! One feature that I love is that I have a temperature range set. If the temp drops below the "comfort range", the heater engages. If the temp rises above the "comfort range", the A/C kicks on. Spring in South Louisiana has weather that runs the gamut. One day it's hot and the next day it's cold. I don't have to worry about if I have heat or A/C on anymore, especially in the middle of the night. Everything is set. Need to change the setting? Just open the app on your smart phone. It's great!

Thermostat great, wiring was a problem!!

I have a lot of experience with wiring solid state devices with similar push in wire connectors. After several failed tries ( thermostat wouldn't recognize wire), I went online to reviews / trouble shooting and found a suggestion to use clean, newly stripped, and very straight wire. After another 6 failed tries I crimped industrial gold plated connector pins onto each wire! And that worked. Note: these pins and tool are only available to industry. You must keep wire straight!!!! Keep trying. The thermostat is great, set up program, diagnostics and documentation are great, we love it. Nest needs to install a better wire terminator that is more robust and forgiving.

Great product!

I have many google products that are very easy to use and set up. Door bell. wifi system. Thermostat (Nest). Google Home and minis. As soon as I pay off my samsung phone the Pixel is next for me. I would highly recommend all of them.

Nest thermostat

Does not work with the other nest thermostats I have. Kind of deceiving but have to use in google app and not Nest app which is where all others are connected.

I recommend opting for the fully loaded Nest Learning (or E) thermostat. The latter are both more intuitive user experiences and are supported by a much better Nest app versus Google home.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
