Nest Thermostat

Thermostat works well overall. Consistent problem with it staying linked to the home WiFi. Have tried numerous fixes for this, but I've come to the conclusion that it will need to be replaced. Never had this issue with my Honeywell thermostat.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nest thermostats connectivity issues are sometimes related to power issues,which may occur when your system wires can't deliver enough power to keep the thermostats charged up. As a result, they start draining the batteries and disconnect from your Wi-Fi and sometimes cause the battery to drain faster. Your Nest thermostat uses the voltage from your system’s wires to keep its internal battery charged. If the power to your system is switched off or there’s a blackout, the battery has enough capacity to keep working for a while but will eventually run out. Your thermostat will also turn off features like Wi-Fi to preserve battery life before it must turn off completely.
We’d like to figure out if there are other reasons why your thermostat is behaving differently. We suggest getting in touch with us anytime for further troubleshooting towards resolution: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

This Nest is great. Has all the features I was looking for from a thermostatVery easy to install as wellDidnt need the Nest app though. Kind of useless

Doesn't work on modern HVACs

Doesn't work on modern HVACs with wireless control systems. Additional its really bad at regulating temperature. This product doesn't support the Nest app, you have to use google home.

Good for some but not for me

If you want a thermostat that does all the thinking for you then this is it. However, if you want to do most anything on your own I recommend looking elsewhere. I was unable to set a high temp or high humidity alarm (critical for a seasonal home when you are away for extended periods)

Great thermostat

I did not have too high of hopes for this as I am technologically inept. I was wrong, after figuring out the app installation on our phones, it took care of itself. The installation was easy and the app guides you through everything. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It has saved us mo ey on our energy bill already!

Excellent thermostat

Positives:1. Easy installation,2. Thermostat works flawlesslyNegatives:1. No printed or online user manual is available. A google search will send you to places or groups if you have unlimited amount of time to find the answer. I never have found directions how to get to the menus but eventually figured them out, 2. Managing the device from your phone is possible but every time you have to go through the Google Home app. A phone desktop shortcut would make life easier.3. Considering the size and the price of the device, google should have provided a wall plate for free. Most of us just replacing an older, larger thermostat finding the uncovered wall different colored or dirty.

Don't waste your money

Worst thermostat ever. It has AAA batteries yet it is connected directly to power. Google app is worst app ever, the app shows the battery level is good but if you check the device itself, it complains that the battery is very low. Unable to simply set temperature schedules. Forced to install the app because there's no web site. Bought the new thermostat after the first generation Nest gave up. The app is not backward compatible, I cannot set the schedule for the other old thermostat that I have and Nest app does not recognize the new thermostat. It's a good indication of the caliber of google engineering. Google bought Nest and completely ruined the product and software.

Nest Thermostat isn’t available un Nest App, as our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app.
