Unit works well enough. However the controls thru google home are very primative

Greatest thing since a pocket on a shirt

I heard all the news about how the Google nest thermostat saved people money on their energy bills. It's true to say, they're right! We noticed how much of an improvement to our heating and cooling system this thing is compared to an old thermostat we were using. Definitely noticed a cut in our energy bill from the first month we used the Google nest thermostat. I love the features it comes with, the ability to have it shut itself down when you're not home, and how you can control it right from your pocket via the Google Home app. I'd recommend to anybody who's curious or interested about getting the new thermostat, it does make a great improvement on your system and bill.

Almost A Good Thermostat

I had a Nest Learning thermostat. It died after about 6 or 7 years. I do not need the "learning" mode so I went with a cheaper Nest thermostat...big mistake. I really need the Wi-Fi remote adjustable feature. This thermostat would not stay connected more than two days in a row!The programming mode is crazy. You can not simply set a temperature for a certain time of the day. You must set a range. For example, I like to set the heat or AC to 72° at night. You cannot do this. You must set a range like 71°-75°. So it can get as cold as 70° and as hot as 76°. That is completely useless.With this Nest thermostat you HAD to use Google home. Which was a pain to set up. I never was able to share (control) of with other family members. Again, completely useless.I took it back and ordered the Nest learning thermostat like I had before.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Your Nest Thermostat introduces different ways to manage temperature control for your home and it comes with a Hold feature that lets you hold it to your preferred temperature setting. When you set your Nest Thermostat to hold the temperature, it will maintain that specific temperature for as long as you want. This is convenient if you want your thermostat to ignore scheduled or automatic temperature changes for a while and stay at a specific temperature. To start the Hold temperature:
- Open the Google Home app.
- On the home screen, select your thermostat.
- Make sure your thermostat is in Heat, Cool, or Heat • Cool mode before you try to start a temperature hold.
- Tap Hold temperature Hold temperature.
- Select the Current temp or the temperature preset you want your thermostat to hold.
- Note: If the temperature you want doesn’t appear, change your thermostat’s current temperature to the one you want to hold. When you reopen the hold temperature settings, you’ll be able to select the temperature you’ve just set.
- Select the end time you want the temperature to hold for.
- Tap Start to begin the temperature hold.
- If you want to make changes to the temperature but there’s a hold on the temperature, the app or thermostat will tell you that you need to end the hold first.

Nest

This is my third Nest. One in each of three homes. I am not a fan of this model. Tapping and rubbing to make it work is a pain. Also I have two homes on the Nest app. This model can only be on the Google app. Seems ridiculous. Adjusting home and away is not as easy as my other models. This one was a Christmas gift so I accepted it and will work with it. I installed my first two but finely found a Google person to solve my problem and frustration.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to use, very modern looking

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The thermostat works well, make sure you get it wired correctly. It is nice that it can be wired with or with C - common. Visually the device is a little too "modern" looking for where I have it, that's really my only complaint. Setup was easy, after it was wired.

Convenience tool

Great way to monitor electricity usage. There is an actual time chart that let users know how much electricity is used for cooling and heating your home. Also, there is a reminder to change unit filter according to unit usage.

The installation was very easy. Once I set up the routines, we've been comfortable. I Aldi like the sensing option. If we're not home, it knows and turns the heat down.
