Google Nest Thermostat Just Alright

The app integration is pretty terrible. Schedules are difficult to find, create, and modify. You have to create a name for each temp (I.e. sleep, eco) then assign that to the schedule. Doesn’t work with Nest sensors for hot/cold rooms which is ironic since it’s called the Google Nest Thermostat. Side scroll bar takes some time getting used to. Doesn’t come with a trim plate which almost everyone in the world needs.Very easy installation. So at least there’s that. In the end, spend the money on the nest learning thermostat or something else that has better functionality and ease of use if you really want a smart thermostat.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Instead of creating a new temperature schedule, it´s much easier to simply edit any of the existing temperature preset schedule that's already programmed with your Nest Thermostat. To view, edit, or create temperature presets for your thermostat:
- Open the Google Home app.
- Select your thermostat on the home screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Select Temperature preferences.
- Choose Temperature presets.
- Select an existing preset to change or delete it, or tap Add add_routine to create a custom preset.

This was a very difficult setup after installation. There were too many unknowns being requested for the setup.

Many malfunctions

We just received our Nest, loved the programs and schedules we could utilize. However, I have had to reset the thermostat 4 times already due to disconnect, which, takes away your capability to access the thermostat, on the Home app, when we are aaway from home. Wifi stays connected but the account does not.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

- Check for possible congestion with your Wi-Fi network.
- Check for possible interference, as thick walls and other devices in your home may weaken Wi-Fi signals.
- Bring your Nest Thermostat closer to your router to get better signal reception from your router.
- If you have a dual band router, try setting up your Nest Thermostat on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more stable.

Ambient temperature accuracy is the far and away the single most important feature of any thermostat: everything else is secondary bling. So far, the Nest seems acceptably accurate.
