C wire needed

Though it says it functions with out a c wire, that is only if you change the batteries every two weeks. Now I have to figure out how to add a c wire. Not what I wanted to do.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

In most cases, Nest thermostats can charge their built-in battery using your system’s heating and cooling wires. But, when your heating and cooling wires are not able to deliver the needed power for your Nest thermostat, you may need to connect a common or C wire. Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Google Nest G2 smart thermostat is sleek and has a nice profile in white. The thermostat is programmable and easy to program. You can control the thermostat remotely via the app. You can set temps to a range where the heat comes on when needed and the air activated when needed. Easy to install very clear easy to understand instructions.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good, but moderatley confusing

I actually love having the new NEST thermostat, but cannot for the life of me how to use the appt to turn it completely ON or OFF. When I want ithe A/C to stop running (because I'm away for a long stretch) the only thing I can figure out is to turn the thermostat temp waaaay up, then turn it waaaay down when I want it to come back on. Wish there were some alternative from the app when I'm away from home.

I love our new Nest thermostat, I love the way I can control it from my phone from anywhere in our home. Also I hooked it up to out Alexa and my family can control from that device.

Sleek and intuitive

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to upgrade my already ‘smart’ thermostat for the Google Nest. Google has very clear guides to help you setup and ensure your thermostat is compatible so make sure you check this before buying. I was able to install it myself following the video. My unit did not come with a mounting plate but I personally think it looks better without and I was able to repair and paint the wall where marks were caused by the previous unit. The setup didn’t go perfectly smoothly the Nest took a while to connect to my phone and WiFi, I had to repeat the setup a couple of times to get it to work. Otherwise I am really happy with it, it is a lot more intuitive and has much more built in clever tech. These controls help you save money on your energy bill!

It's ok

First complaint - you NEED another nest device for this to connect to wifi to use the app and set up any settings. That is very unclear when I bought it. Luckily I had one, the older nest thermostat. Guess what, it didn't work for a month - I tried many many times, complained to google and then one day it magically worked. They must have fixed the bug in the other nest device - who knows.second complaint - you can't just schedule the fan to run - you must have it on heat/cool to do this. Also, you can not set the exact intervals/times. you can only select from a preselected list that runs once per hour. DUMB!third complaint - it's annoying to physically use. The mechanism is weird - trust me, try it before you buy it. everyone in my house really does not like it compared to the old nest thermostat.I would not buy this again.

Doesn’t hold temps

I bought this with high expectations, however, not being able to set a temperature and hold it for an extended period of time is a bummer. I purchased this for an Airbnb home, with the thought of saving a bunch of money, which I will, but being able to “hold” a temp for an extended period of time would have been ideal, and a no brainer with the technology of a smart thermostat. Having to log in every day to reset the temperature is a hassle to say the least.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
