Pretty Cool

First things first: I am not a handy man by any means, but this was super easy to install myself. I love that you can program it to adjust automatically and that it senses when you are home and not home and adjusts the temperature accordingly. I have not seen any impact on my bill yet, but I haven't had it quite long enough. Overall, I am satisfied. It's worth the money.

Get the Nest Pro Learning Thermostat

I have had a Nest for 10 years and this is by far the worst one. The learning thermostat is so much better and learns about you and is easy to you. The lack of the wheel and interface makes this hard to use and I hate you can’t use the Nest app are forced into the Google Home App which is not simple and has so many steps. It’s annoying. Nest really took a step back with this product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Display not working

Does not light up display upon approach. Older model was better.

Hi Matt, thanks for posting your feedback. We're sorry to hear that the display doesn't light up on approach. Wake on Approach will not activate unless a C wire is installed. This helps with battery consumption. Great, but...

We love our new Nest thermostat. It was easy to install ourselves.Our only issue is with the visuals... we wear glasses, and even with them on, it is very difficult to read the symbols and know how to make the correct adjustments.

Google Nest

We connected to our new Nest Thermostat and enjoy how it monitors our activities automatically adjusting the temperature in our home... but not without some problems. The instructions required a phone call to customer support just to get installed and connected. Later when switching the controller to Economy mode to leave on vacation in the winter, the default was preset at a minimum of 70° F when we needed 55.° It took 3 chat sessions and 2 phone calls to get a customer support person directed by their supervisor to get Economy to 55°! That's not acceptable.

Simple installation

Installation was fairly easy; I used the instruction video and followed along. The one issue was that my old thermostat was a simple, two-wire system and the Nest wants a third "C" wire. I had to lie to the system and tell it I had installed a "C" wire in order to complete the set-up. The system works fine without it, but I have received warning messages that the batteries will have to be changed more frequently without the dedicated thermostat power from the "C" wire. Everything works well, and the controls are simple from the Google home app on my phone, but I'm not sure if I will have to deal with this "C" wire issue in the future.

Nest thermostat/ohm connect

It's a great product, once you set up the different schedules on it, it operates all by its self. Highly recommend this thermostat to help safe energy and electrical costs.

Thermostat works well. Much of Setup instructions are not very good. The idea of incorporating flow charts into the setup instructions is apparently unknown to the designers. Essentially a large array of outcomes results from very subtle changes to the setup. This is not obvious until much trial and error is utilized.
