I had an old (what I call) string shredder but it was not a cross shredder. I found that the documents could be reassembled to gain key account numbers and other personal information. This shredder, with its cross cut makes that almost impossible and I feel more comfortable putting the shredded paper out to the recycling folks. The shredder is strong and clears itself by remaining on for a few seconds after the paper finishes feeding. By the way, anyone know what I can do with my old "string" shredder?
Pros: Sheet Capacity, Quality Construction, Jam Resistance, Mess Reduction

Works perfectly for our household shredding needs. We feel more secure now with the ability to shred papers that should not go into the trash without being shredded.
The unit motor works fine, however, the containment basket needs to be deeper and on wheels..
Pros: Quality Construction
Cons: Jam Resistance

I have been very pleased with everything I have asked it to do. It shreds credit cards easily, without any hassel or special proceedures. It seems like a very well built and heavy duty piece of equipment. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
I purchased the P-48c shredder for light duty use in our home. The previous shredder we owned (not a Fellowes) clogged after every use. Apparently after 3-4 years of use the cutting edges became bent or out of alignment. From the first use of the P-48C we knew we had a quality product that runs smoother and quieter than our previous one. For the price this shredder is an excellent vaule and has done all we asked of it.
We purchased a Fellowes because my wife uses a heavy duty Fellowes at work, a state chamber of commerce, and has not encounted a problem over several years of operation.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Quality Construction, Safety Features, Jam Resistance

I purchased this shredder to replace an old ribbon-cut shredder I bought a decade ago. This one is far superior for ID protection. It does not fill up nearly as fast and has not jammed once. Most notable is the ability to completely shred credit cards. Based on th ecost, and warranty, I have already recommended it to a few friends and co-workers.
This is an amazing machine. It is very durable, a good quality machine for the price. I was so very suprised how well it performed during my first time using it, and the various functions that it is capable of performing. I am glad I made the purchase.
