I hate this shredder if you need to shred any large amount at a time it will stop because it has a sensor that it is to warm. Takes forever to do any large amount of shredding. It only will handle 2 sheets before it starts to bog down.
Cons: Sheet Capacity, Mess Reduction, Jam Resistance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for taking the time to review your P-48C shredder. We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the duty cycle this unit offers.
The P48C is a small personal shredder and is not intended to be used for purging large quantities in one day. This model is designed with a 3-5 minute duty cycle. When the time limit has been reached, the unit will automatically shut down for a 15 minute cool down. In addition to the duty cycle, the recommended daily sheet capacity is 60 sheets per day (8 sheets per pass).
Fellowes manufactures a large range of shredders including small personal shredders to larger units featuring longer duty cycles and heavier daily usage ratings. It sounds as if you may want to consider a heavier duty shredder.

Hard to clear jams

When it jams there is no good way to clear it. There is too much space between the top and the blades that the cut paper can get jammed in there. Too many sheets meant an hour of trying to clear it. This included turning it over, engaging a safety switch to try and get paper to push out the jam. Need way to better clear jams.

p48c shredder

Purchased this shredder to replace the p48c I had that the switch broke. I had the previous shredder aapprox. 5 years and it was an excellent machine. Looking forward to many years with the new one. Would definitely recommend this shredder to anyone looking for a home shredder medium useage.

Recently purchased this shredder and set it up with no difficulty. Very satisfied with performance as I am 75 yrs of age and find it easy to work with.

i bought this shredder because of the good reviews. while it does work nicely, it is very loud and the bin doesn't hold much paper.

i just started to use my new machine and it seems really nice compared to my last one a lot more stable and solidly built. paid about the same price believe this one will last forever.. thanks fellowes

SO FAR SO GOOD

I just purchased this item, so I can't comment on the long run. It is fast. My only gripe is with the noise level. My first shredder was quieter but by no means quiet. If anyone knows of a way to reduce the noise these things make, I would like to know. Otherwise, so far so good.
