Power button must be manually held down.

This is an A+ vacuum cleaner when it comes to cleaning. The only reason I gave it a 4 is that it is my first vacuum cleaner that requires holding the on off button when using. The first time I used it I had the beginnings of a blister. If I would have used it longer, a blister would have formed. I haven't had it that long, but when I use it, I wear a glove. I certainly wish that wasn't necessary.

Attachments are wonderful. Assembly was very easy. Battery life on par with recommendations. Filter works beautifully. Maneuverability excellent while standing and walking behind machine. A little tricky under furniture. Excellent performance. I LOVE THE DETECT ATTACHMENT!!! This model is a little heavy for me when cleaning the entire house. Wish the handle was on top instead of underneath the ‘engine’. Wish there was a continuous “On” button.

OMG this is THE BEST product ever. If you care about clean floors, this is your unit. It's my fourth DYSON cordless vacuum (gifted one to parents; one to partner; and I have had 2 previous over the years). The worst thing about this product is that you can see the dust (and other stuff) that remains so you may find that you want to vacuum all the time! :) Seriously I love this product...a must for anyone who is an focused on keeping the floors clean as I am (I have 2 pets ... and tumble weeds of hair are constant without this product).

I’m happy I went with this model, it’s very fun to use with the green light as we have 4 cats and a dog. The carpet attachment is so good it’s almost hard to use because the suction is so strong. It’s easy to empty and mostly hands free. The attachments are a little hard to click in and to get out but once they’re in it’s fine. After a while of using the vacuum it does get a little heavy. The fluffy roller attachment is great and the auto detect is pretty cool. Maintains battery well, and moves around easily.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love the power

Bought about a month ago, so far, so good! Have 2 Dyson full sized vacuums (which I love), wish I had purchased this one sooner! Love all of the attachments and power. only downside.....the "green light" is only on the hardwood floor attachment....needs to be on the carpet/rug attachment as well.

I enjoy my Dyson for the most part except for the part of having to hold the start button the entire time you are vacuuming. having some Arthritis in my hands makes it somewhat difficult to maneuver.

Hugely dissapointed

While som aspects are a real improvement on my old V8, a couple of changes are huge handicaps, one so bad I think I'm going to have to buy something else, instead.
The cons: It's too heavy. It hurts my for arm to vac with it. I can't do the whole of my lounge in one go because of the strain. I'm a small woman, but no smaller than 25% of American women, and I'm not particularly frail. Ive never had a problem with a vacuum cleaner before, so I I find this an unacceptable design choice on Dyson's part.
The other negative change is that you have to remove the attachments to empty the bin. On previous models I've owned you just picked the vac up over your trash can and pulled the lever, put this one the hatch that opens is where the attachments plug in. The machine won't let you open the hatch with the attachments plugged in (and it would be difficult to do so and empty over a trash can for the larger attachments anyway. This is far more cumbersome than the previous Dyson's I've had.
The good - it's more powerful. I believe the battery will last longer, but it's too heavy for me to test that theory as I can't vac with it for long enough. Similarly the bin seems bigger so won't need emptying mid-vac so much but, again, I haven't been able to test that theory. I find the hair detangler seems to work - which I really like!
Other upgrades like the light that shows you dirt on hard surfaces seem gimmicky to me and I haven't found them useful.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
