Amazing gps unit. It provides all of the cycling metrics I could ask for. The notifications are quick and routing works great even off the beaten path. Garmin does need to figure out their pay system. I know they want their own but it only works with no bank I have availability to in north America.
Bought a year ago. New upgrade of software. Now can’t connect to any of my sensors - rally power pedals, speed/cadence or radar light. Garmin doesn’t know how to help
Sensor connections are spotty at times. Sometimes the device fails to connect to cadence sensors, heartrate monitors, lights, etc. Sync with Garmin Connect also works most of the time but not consistently. I like the ability to create various profiles for different bikes. This device is likely best for those with moderate to high levels of technical savvy. Tighter integration with other Garmin accessories would improve the experience. Integration with Garmin lighting systems for example.

I upgraded from a 1030, mostly because I'm a geek. 1030 works great, but I did not expect how much significantly faster and sharper the 1050 is. Had I known, I would have upgraded long ago.
I I upgraded this from a hammerhead GPS and my experience so far has been fantastic. The screen blows my mind and it has so many features. It’s taking me three days to learn and I’m sure I haven’t even learned at all yet. This GPS is really for an intermediate to an expert has too much capabilities for a beginner but if you have lots of sensors, this is the device for you.
