Having a speaker is game changer. Bell option, directions, radar beeps etc all make this best of best CPU. Had the 1040 solar, battery on 1050 is way more than I’ll ever need. Daily rider with 8hrs max ride for me and usual is under 2hrs. Great color display with all the added graphics make this easy on eyes.
Received a few days after release and have been very happy with how it has performed. A enjoy the new vibrant display along with the new UI. Maps looks great and the more accurate gradients have been nice. Battery life has gone done some compared to my 1040 I had but for how I use this device the battery life is more than enough!
Pros: I love the battery life on the edge 1050, screen is clear and the alerts for upcoming pot holes or hazards is great. Cons: the garmin edge 1050 fits tight on my k edge mount(previously had edge 1030) i have a madone one piece handlebar sow not many options Overall highly recommended
I haven’t been able to use it yet since I had to order a new mount for my integrated handlebar mount. The 1040 for fine but be aware the 1050 requires a longer mount or mount it upside down. It’s also heavier than the 1040 :(
I bought the 1050 because I wanted the speaker so that I could hear the varia radar sounds. I moved from a 1030 plus which I loved. The new screen is a real downer for me as it's washed out in bright sun so that I can barely see it. The 1030 plus had a dimmer screen but it was easy to see in direct sun. I think the new GPS functionality is great and the speaker is a must but the screen eats so much power and is difficult to see so that I will most likely upgrade and shelve this unit if Garmin changes the screen technology.
