I'm still learning how to use and would benefit from an instruction manual. For example, the big blue arrow in the middle of the screen! Why? I think it meant to turn it on, where is the start button? I have many questions like this that I don't know where to find the answers!! Not all steps are intuitive for me. I've had Garmins for 8 years!
Bought this on a whim as I was getting tired of the 1040 display and interfaces. Let me tell you, the speed on this thing - Blazing compared to previous. The interface and overall usability were a massive upgrade!
I had an Edge 530 for the past 5 years and while it continued to work fine and the battery was good, I wanted something new. The 1050 has been incredible. The larger screen is vibrant and super easy to read. I find myself going on more routes that i would have in the past because the navigation is superb. I also like how easy i can customize the screens even on a ride. The one feature that would be nice is if you could have a full activity screen for the bell so its easier to use. I have 4 bikes i use and only one has the option to use the sram axs wireless button to connect to it, which is great but it would be nice for other bikes without wireless options. Outside of that which is nitpicking, i am really really happy with my purchase. Lastly the battery is awesome. I went on an unexpected 6.5 hour ride last weekend and the battery was only at 80% bc i never charged it and i think it only dropped to 65% with navigation, and multiple sensors connected.
I migrated from an Edge 1030 to the 1050. Garmin Connect made this easy as it brought the displays and pairing to the 1050 without having to go through the setup. The loading of routes is much quicker on the 1050 and it is much quicker when powering. The display is great and I enjoy the slightly larger display.
