I have only completed one ride with the unit so far. I spent time setting the unit up and headed out for a 7 hr ride. The unit locked up within 1 mile. I reset and tried 2 more times with the unit locking up within 1 mile. Garmin support was not helpful, but internet searches led me to do a complete factory reset. I since have completed 1 2 hour ride with no issue. We will see how reliable it is....
I've owned Garmin Edge's for years. The new 1050 is so superior to the earlier models. Set up was easy, took about a minute scanning the QR code. Very fast unit, easy to read screen due to high resolution and graphics. The product is more for the intermediate and advanced user. Lots of info packed into the 1050.

I bought the Edge 1050 a month ago, it is really good, I love all the measures and the possibility to pair a lot of sensors. I would like the screen must be more súperb for the cost.
Long battery life, bright screen, loud alerts, fast navigation, great Bluetooth connectivity, I’m sold!

Inaccurate gradient data

I’ve upgraded from the Edge 530 to the 1050 and, overall, the improvement is marginal. While the device is slightly more responsive, and the battery life and screen resolution have noticeably improved, key features remain problematic:
Mapping Functionality: The navigation/map function is still suboptimal—slow to load and not particularly intuitive during use. ClimbPro & Gradient Accuracy: The gradient readings are frequently inaccurate, especially during climbs. This severely limits the usefulness of the device for serious elevation-focused training or racing. I’ve worked directly with the technical team on these issues, but unfortunately, no resolution has been achieved to date.

We're sorry to hear about the difficulty you've experienced with the Edge 1050. We recommend connecting it to your computer and checking for any updates through our Garmin Express program. It is available for download at garmin.com/express.

This my 5th edge in the series. The Edge 1050 is an excellent computer that is packed with features, and the updates to the screen and processing speed make it very nice to use. It comes with a heavy price tag, if you want to take advantage of everything a computer like this can do, and can afford it, you'll love it. My only down side is the brightness of the screen & sleep mode. Screen can crack if using on a MTB bike. Overall I am extreamly satisfied with the Edge 1050
