Used this product on a 4 day, 326 mile bike packing trip with friends. Group ride work with other Garmin Edge devices. I was very concerned about battery life, especially on the 100 mile day, however had zero issues. I did charge every night. Pre loaded the map and used this device as primary navigation. Only issue was near tall buildings in very large city with tall buildings, but it quickly corrected itself. Many features I love to include touch screen.

This does exactly what I was hoping! Nothing more nothing less.
Much better battery life, the climb pro is really an excellent feature and the maps seem to respond much more quickly. Also love the bigger color screen. Only problems found so far is that the Dexcom integration does not work despite hours of trying everything I can find if the display get wet that all sorts of bad things happen such as fields move around or new screens and setting appear and will no go away unless I turn it off and back on.
Upgraded from a 1040 that was 7 years old and had experienced the dreaded “battery expansion”. This device is very responsive, has a really crisp display, great sound features and has been a great upgrade.
I've used this for my rides the past 2 weeks. I'm really impressed with the graphics and the ability to customize my screens. However, 2 things really bother me. First, at times the current speed jumps around significantly (between 1 and 2 mph) despite me keeping a consistent cadence. Second, the grade is terrible...says I'm going down when I'm going up and vice versa. I've seen much less expensive head units from other manufacturers with grade readings that not only work correctly, but are accurate to tenths of a degree. Garmin really disappoints on this, and although users have been reporting the grade problems for a long time, Garmin has not addressed it.
Should have kept the mount location centered. Now I’m scrambling to look for an offset mount for both of my bikes. Great job of engineering a problematic issue for cyclists.
Garmin sets the bar high and cleared it again in my opinion. It does take a while to figure out the settings, menu nav, etc but it's not too difficult. The only negative is the time it took to download the new map but that's a one-off. Overall highly recommend.
Replaces my 1030 which outlived its life. So much more with the 1050! Tells me when and how much to drink and fuel during a ride and how much at conclusion. Let’s you know how long and steep a climb and how much left. So many features!!
