Purchased 06-18-2012, used quite a bit but always with care. Today, 6/3/2014 it flodded my entire house after the water fill mechanism failed to stop incoming water. BEWARE! I you own this washer sand and watch it fill till it SHUTS OFF.

Clothes are sitting in their own filth
on November 22, 2011

I find it astounding that a washer would be designed specifically to not use clean rinse water. I have literally watched the washer "perform" and am extremely unhappy with it. First of all, why would it not do a first spin cycle to pump out the nasty soapy water that it scrubbed out in the wash? And why would it only put 5-6 inches of water in during the "rinse" and expect for the clothes to be rinsed clean? It's not even enough to get the clothes wet? And I don't understand how it is supposed to be gentle on the clothes when it agitates and tugs and pulls on them with not enough water to even move them around. And if you turn it back to re-wash them, the water is just as dirty as before. Is the new trend in laundry to keep the clothes in their stink? I buy a washing machine not to save me water, not to save electricity, and not to have fancy waterless "soaks". I buy a washer to clean my clothes. And this machine fails that. My grandfather is the owner of this washer, as a result of being tricked by the appliance store near us, and with the condition he is in, and after having the death of my grandmother one week ago, we really need a washer that does its job; not one that allows the clothes to sit in the filth that was meant to be washed away.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This washer replaced the same model that I had for years with no problems until I wore it out. I saved a few parts from the old one and can expect years of trouble free use with this one!
I would recommend this to a friend!

junk. i'm surprised at the poor quality of ge. no more ge anything for my family! does not spin after wash, so dirty and soapy clothes remain in tub and small amt rinse water goes in and then 10 seconds of agitation, yep, that's it. most of rinse water never sees clothes. then drains and spins with dirty soapy water still in the clothes. stay FAR away from this.

I personally do not recommend this washer.

The washer spins out so poorly that you cannot put the clothes in the dryer because they are so wet. The washer leaked water out of the bottom of the machine 2 weeks after purchasing it, flooding down through the floor and into the basement, and the store repairman couldn't find anything wrong. I went with the GE washer based on past purchases of GE products. I will never buy another GE washer nor will I purchase another item from the distributor of this GE machine - they were no help at all in resolving the issue.

FLOODED MY FLOORS
on September 13, 2013

Bought this washer two years ago, and the sensor regulating the water level is malfunctioning/broken as the washer fills and fills... and doesn't stop filling! Flooded my laundry/kitchen. No wonder GE doesn't make this model any longer, as no two year old washer, regardless of price within the GE model offerings, should be such an unreliable hazard.
