The unit doesn't have much power. I replace the batteries and it seems to not affect the performance. I have a rechargeable waterpik that has flossed for 2 years doing a great job, the only problem is it has leaked since new.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Although the pressure is not as high as our counter top models, it does not make it any less effective. Your unit does carry a one-year warranty.
