I'm happy about the performance of the Waterpik BUT I'm disappointed that the batteries do NOT last long!! And YES, I put Duracell batteries in them after I got it because WATERPIK batteries only lasted a few days!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Like the compact size of the handheld version as opposed to the unit that would take up room on my little sink. Wish I had gotten the rechargeable version because I wonder how often I'll have to buy batteries. So far I've had it about a month, use once a day...sometimes twice and seems fine. I do have to refill, but maybe I'm going too slow therefore using up the water in the tank too fast.

On slow speed I run out of water before all teeth are flossed. I have not tried a faster speed yet

Batteries died within a couple weeks, and the lower of the two pressure settings hurt my gums.
