Well, I wanted to give this item a great review, as WaterPik is a well-known brand. However, this particular model runs out of water in maybe 20 seconds. This means that you haven't even gotten it into your mouth good and aimed at the gumline before it's out of water. Very aggravating! And of course, the spray goes all over everywhere, so you really need to use it in the shower. I had surgery on my thumb and was unable to use floss, so I was hoping that this model would work to replace the floss. It was a total failure. I took the batteries out and relegated it to under my sink. I'll probably never use it again.

Being battery operated, the water stream is not consistent. Tend to feed more batteries than expected. Having rechargeable batteries could make it more convenient.

The batteries are designed to last about one month with daily use, though their lifespan can vary based on the type and quality of the battery as well as how frequently the unit is used. Both Alkaline batteries and NiMH rechargeable batteries are suitable for this product.
