This is the second Waterpik flosser I have owned. The first one last over 5 years. The one I just bought has not worked correctly since day one. The tip does not stay anchored on to the machine when I start to floss so water comes gushing out of the top. I tried numerous times to get the tip to stay in place but they all failed. I took one of the old tips from the previous machines and tried one of them. It was a slight improvement, but if I don't apply downward pressure on the tip while using it, the tip also pops out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Waterpik works well. My model has 3 speeds. The start button is above the highest speed button, and when holding the rather heavy instrument sideways, the user cannot see the buttons. User must remember not to hit the on button if the mechanism is not in the mouth, or water will spray on walls or sink.
I like that this is battery operated. It's useful for me because I travel for work. No real instructions on the tips or explanation of what they are designed for. It is petty powerful and gets the job done.
I loved using it when it first arrived, but the battery will not recharge. So now it is an expensive paperweight.

The WaterPik water flosser is very good at flossing between teeth and in the corners of the mouth. I have the portable WP580 which is easy to use, easy to clean after each use, and easy to store until the next use. I live in Fl each winter and will find it very easy to take the WP 580 with me while I am there for 5 months this winter. Also the new technology for charging the battery is easy to use with your computer and lasts for 2-3 weeks after a charge.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is the worst flosser ever. I have owned 4 flossers from this company and bought this to replace one whose battery is dying (a whole other problem, why can’t we replace the battery), the controls are covered by your hand while flossing so you are constantly, accidentally changing them. The tank is really quite small as well, so must be refilled to complete flossing. I am returning this.
