The waterpik is more effective than floss at removing food particles but is VERY messy to use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Bob Co. - There is definitely a trick to it. We have found the best advice we can give is to place the flosser in your mouth prior to turning it on, then make sure you look down into your sink as you go; keep your mouth slightly open so water can drain into the sink. Here's a link to a quick video that demonstrates this: https://youtu.be/l02dBOdOxtU
Unfortunately, this unit lacked sufficient power, leaked, held insufficient water for a flossing, and the head piece button was too close to the on /off switch. I sent it back and got the Aquarius model which works fine.

Not powerful enough. Stalls in between some of my teeth.

I returned it. Very poor water pressure. I was not pleased with the performance at all.

Hello Chrissy B - We're sorry you were not pleased with the WP-580 model. This model is designed to be small as it is intended for those who travel and/or have little counter space. Some users may find it necessary to fill the reservoir more than once. If you prefer not to, a counter top model would be a better fit.
This is my second Waterpik product, upgrading from the 1st gen sonic-fusion brush/flosser combo after several years. I bought a dedicated toothbrush, and needed a dedicated flosser, and the Cordless Advanced 2.0 was a no brainer. First off, no hose and no tank, which in a small bathroom with limited shelf space is huge. Of course being a Waterpik product the build quality is excellent, and the design is well considered. And the battery life is great. The only minor downsides are the small-ish tank, which honestly isn't that big a deal considering you're usually standing over an endless supply of water. And I wish the water pressure was a little stronger, though I probably had just gotten used to having the pressure a little too strong. Overall this is a fantastic product, and I'm very pleased.
