I love everything about this knife except the gold finish. I love the color, but the finish has become "spotted" and have mo reason why.

Super lightweight and innovative all milled carbon fiber liners. Multiple ways to open for great fidgeting. Blade still dead center and the coating on the blade is still great. I accidentally hit some concrete cutting and it didn’t damage the blade edge. Seems to be a great heat treatment. Made in China , but I don’t see any skimping. I figure to compete for the bm bugout market SOG has to cut the price point somewhere.

I was very excited for this knife but unfortunately the gold coating seems to be spotting and wearing extremely fast. I have not carried this knife for more than 2 weeks. No other complaints. Very light and sturdy. I would NOT recommend this gold color.

Coating Issue

I don't buy a carbon fiber and gold knife for function. I am buying a gold and carbon fiber knife to show off. The first knife I purchased through Blade HQ, I had it for no more then 5 days and the coating started to come off. Very minimal use, I cut a box or two and a piece of 1/4" soft plastic conduit. I reached out to the support and no questions asked they sent me another. Within only about 4 days this time the coating started to come off again. This time the most it was used for was to cut a zip tie. I have absolutely no idea if I would have somehow done something to cause this... I can't image I have. Very upsetting, I would not recommend.

Action is lumpy. The finish pits and corrodes easily despite very little use.

Great Knife Not so great Gold coating!

I love the knife. Works very well, sharp, light, and easy opening and closing. Perfect EDC. But the coating is not durable. Hopefully not everyone has this problem. I'd recommend this to a friend but not the gold one.
