Nearly impossible to open, bad quality control

Nice looks nice but extremely bad quality control. I have over 30 folders from cold steel to Benchmade to Zt. This is my 2nd Sog folder with the first sog being the cash card credit card folder which was great!
Saw some great review online and YouTube about the Terminus Xr. This one is nearly impossible to open, They should not be sending these out like this not sure if it’s a bad batch or what.
I’ll try to see if I can break it in over the next few days but from what I have right right now it’s the worst folder I have as this thing is near impossible to open!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Really wanted to keep this knife - had the green G10 w/upgraded steel. After cleaning and relubing this had amazing action. Ultimately I returned it because of an issue with the pocket clip that I just couldn't live with: because the top of the clip extends past the top of the scale, and the clip is inset into the scale, it causes the tops of pants pockets to get stuck in this little cavity between the inside of the clip loop and butt of the knife. Makes it impossible to remove without pulling the clip away from the handle. Fix this, or offer another clip option and I'll buy another in a heartbeat!
The only other issue of note was that unlike other similar locks, due to the design this knife relies more heavily on the user equally pulling back each slide lock (on both sides). This isn't as pronounced of an issue with other knives, but not a deal breaker.

I have this in both colors. Absolutely superb. The only the third knife with a clip I have ever carried on a regular basis. Because the clip side is steel instead of textured plastic, it doesn't wear out your pants sliding in and out of the pocket. (Replaced Aegis FLK, size more convenient)

Steel is great, Clip is way to short constantly falls out of pocket finally lost last weekend. Not sure if I will replace.

Я купил нож SOG Terminus XR (первое поколение), почти ничего не делал с ножом, спустя месяц, нож перестал открываться, точнее очень тяжело стал открываться, как будто кто то держит лезвие. Сейчас буду отдавать по гарантии, надеюсь смогу сдать его обратно в магазин, из за этой проблемы уже не хочется использовать нож , тк со временем проблема может повторится . Видимо какой то брак, но за качеством нужно следить, тем более это крупная компания....

Love the fact it's razor sharp and comfortable in the hand, but it's impossible to open! I can't use the thumb studs or flipper tab. I have to manually open it.

Excellent look and feel, mod for perfection

I like what SOG did with the lock. Improved upon the axis design by making it easier to engage the mechanism. The carbon fiber G-10 combo along with the slit design make for a gorgeous, grippy, and unique style. The shape of the blade with the S35VN steel are outstanding.
When I first tried the action I was not pleased with the flipper, thumbstud options. However, I took a look at Nick Shabazz's YouTube video on how to take her apart and found that by tweaking the omega springs, I was able to attain a perfect triad of opening actions.
I will probably also take some sandpaper to the flipper.
So, what started out as a "2" from the factory turned out to be a "5" with some adjustments. In fact, I now ordered the crimson D2 version.
I hope that SOG considers QI on the springs so that they are consistently tweaked with less tension. Also, they should consider the use of titanium for the Omega springs which would, of course, be more durable and not rust - market that over Benchmade's axis lock.

As a SOG Terminus XR fan (I have a whole collection), I can say this knife is top of the heap. Having a whole collection, I can also say just have patients with the quality process. If the knife doesn't function like a dream when it arrives, send it in to the warranty dept. I have found that SOG customer service is on top of the pile! Personally I like the SOG logo on the clip and a sturdy clip for my EDC's.
