Works in Cape Cod

I received this product as a gift from a friend . It worked great in New Jersey but its real test was Cape Cod this year . The outer cape including Wellfleet where we stay had the worst mosquito problem in over 40 years. They just swarmed you when you went out side. The first time we went there this summer we did not have the thermacell and we were bitten constantly. The second week we went up we we had the Mr300 and it was incredible. We could sit out in the evening without one mosquito bothering us. It actually was incredible the difference. To show you how bad the mosquitos were this year a company called Mosquito Squad based in Wellfleet had 55 employees and they worked 6 days a week to try and control the problem. The thermacell solved the problem for us and we will never go up to the cape again without it.

Took this hunting twice in Florida and mosquitoes were landing on the thermacell even while it was on. The new thermacells don’t work like the old ones did. Sad. Would not reccomend buying. This review probably won’t even go up.

New design is not an improvement

I had the old unit with the turn knob to turn on the fuel and the small button to light it. It worked great for many years. When it finally quit working I immediately bought another only it was this “new and improved” unit. Well the little switch for the gas gets turned on all the time when not in use and empties the fuel cartridge. The bigger ignition button requires multiple clicks before the gas lights. If I ever find the old model I’ll buy as many as I can find cause you can’t be in the woods in South Georgia without one of these. If it worked why change it.

Brand new unit and it doesn’t work.

Purchased the MR300 as a second one to use for deer hunting as I keep the older one in my turkey vest. First time with it in the woods and it won’t light. I can hear the gas flowing when switching it on ( and it’s a new full cartridge), and pushing the ignite button lights the gas, but it won’t stay lit (no glowing from flame in the viewing window). Quality of these new versions is no where near that of the unit I’ve owned for almost 15 years. Very disappointing.

gotta have works great

I had 6 of these that i bought them for Christmas gifts for family who hunt and fish as they were the best for keeping mosquitoes and sand nats off from biting you . we all loved them and I now 2 older models and 4 that are only around 5 years old. this is one product that i will own and use as long as i am able to hunt and fish as i am 74 now and still love hunting and fishing and working outside , best thing i have found to keep bugs away from you .

On/Off Switch

I've used these hand-held models for quite some time, found out many years ago of their effectiveness. If anything could be improved, I know I can unscrew the butane container every time I quit using it but there has to be some sort of switch or a body design that covers the switch that would prevent it from being turned on accidentally in a pack? Other than that, this is a fantastic product and so much better than covering up in bug spray.

Didn't live up to its expectations

Went up camping and heard about the Thermacell products and thought we would grab one on the way up. The 1st 2 times we used it we had no problem lighting it. As the weekend went on we had to keep trying to light it as it wouldn't always ignight. By the last day it took 10 tries to light it and finally it worked. Then we discovered it didn't work at all!! We watched as the mosquitoes flew all around it and us. I have so many mosquitoe bites its crazy. Yes it was working because the blue pads turned white and we could see the smoke from it. My advice would be save your money!
