We took this on a 4 day camping trip to the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota. It worked wonderfully! A quick note, shut it off and leave it outside of the tent. The fumes continue to linger for a while after it's turned off.

I’ve used the MR300 with the 24 hour pads for two years now, in some very harsh conditions. They have not failed me yet, and many friends have moved towards these instead of using sprays. Simple common sense, set it up about 15 minutes before entertaining and if it’s windy out, check to make sure the flame hasn’t blown out. We’re very satisfied with ours.

I don't know if the mosquitoes of my central Florida home are more persistent than others but this doesn't seem to work in my backyard. In fact, I even have a picture of a mosquito resting on the device itself. I've tried letting it sit outside by itself for a bit before going out with my seemingly delicious skin and blood, but that didn't help. I'm pretty surprised because this was recommended by a friend who uses it while hunting in literal swamps.

Mosquito Repeller - GREAT - Portable - not so much

I bought 4 Thermacells - two portable and 2 Patio Shields. The units themselves work great, and the poor rating has nothing to do with their ability to control mosquitosl. However I have one major complaint on the personal unit. They don't come with a belt clip. We thought they did as the pictures they display show people walking around with them clipped to their belt. I complained to the company, thinking that they forgot to include the clips, however I was told that they don't come with a clip. I could purchase a clip for an additional $12.99 - that's crazy. I bought the portable model to take with us while boating/camping and was really disappointed it did not include a clip. Come on $12.99 for a piece of plastic and a spring - No thanks! Now I'm sorry I ever purchased these.

This product is amazing and easy to use.
But I can't stress enough that it needs to be placed on the ground to protect your entire body.
I used my Thermacell this past weekend camping in a very mosquito infested area.
Friday night, I kept it on my little table that's about knee high. I set timers on my phone for pad changes. We had some beers, and sat around the campfire.
The next morning I realized that I was completely untouched by mosquitoes from the knee up, but eaten alive from the knee down.
It makes sense since the heated vapor is going to go up and out, not down.
I kept it on the ground all day Saturday and paid attention to my lower legs. There was definitely a difference. I kept it under my little camping table so it wouldn't get kicked or stepped on.
But I can't stress enough that it needs to be placed on the ground to protect your entire body.
