An all-in-one powerhouse

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Powerful and Robust are just a few words that describe this latest release from DeWalt, the model DCD1007, featuring a shorter head length than its predecessors, along with an anti-rotation system, which lights up red at the base and stops tool use if it senses excessive rotation, aka Anti-Kickback, like when a large drill bit jams inside a 4x4 stud. This 20V XR Brushless 1/2 inch 3-Speed Hammer Drill, features an all-metal transmission to help withstand tough drilling sessions, like mud-mixing or drilling multiple holes continuously. Another awesome feature is the pivotable LED light built into the base of the drill, with 3 settings, 1 being a 20 minute flashlight option, so you can use the drill as a flashlight, producing an impressive 65 lumens. The 1/2 inch nitro-carburized metal chuck with carbide inserts has high bit-retention resulting in fewer dropped or damaged bits. This tool comes Tool Connect Chip-Ready (sold separately) for app-based asset management. The only disadvantage would be drilling overhead, as the tool has some weight to it, but the tool also seems to be made very solid, and will definetly strengthen your body with use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like this new hammer drill. If you put an 8ah battery on it, it weights the same as the old brushed motor version with a 6ah battery. Its nice they include a handle with it. The light is super bright too. It seems to drill the hole faster on the same speed setting as the old version too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an incredibly powerful tool. I cannot believe what this will power through. 1" auger bit went through hard maple like it was cottonwood. The torque reaction arm provided can be a necessity depending on the drilling task at hand. Don't hesitate to use it. The trigger control is very linear and the three speed transmission really lets you tailor the rpm range to exactly what you need. It was easier to change the gear setting than I have found on other tools, as was the clutch setting. Amazing to see how sensitive the clutch was considering the immense torque this drill can put out. I really liked the aimable spotlight. It's very bright and convenient to use. This is a heavy tool with its 5.0 Ah battery, but I found it to be well balanced with a comfortable grip during use. I think Dewalt did a good job with the cushioning protection on the tool housing too as you can tell you're not hitting any of the plastic shell parts when you lay it down on the bench. Overall, an exceptional cordless power tool.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I laughed out loud when I first picked it up out of its packaging, it felt GOOD in my hand, like a real professional piece of hardware I could count on. You just know! Dense! I tried it out with the new flat pack style battery, and with a 1" drill bit into the end grain of a log of dry timber, I averaged about 1 cubic inch of material removed per second. It has a LOT of power. Also, fantastic for mixing liquids. I used it for mixing up a basification bath for the tannery and I didn't feel like it was going to break my wrist!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing is built like a DeWalt tool we all expect - tough, reliable, high quality. I think I could drop this out of a truck and you would not even notice. The longer handle makes for greater control. My first job using it was actually to mix concrete and it did it with ease, I was very impressed! Because of the step up in the design of this is does weigh more than you might expect, it’s built tough!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beast of a drill, it is an excellent addition to my line of dewalt drills. The extra torque compliments the extra bulk. I really appreciate the wrist protection and safety features and the swivel light is one of those features that has you thinking " why didn't they put this on the DCD996 "

Better than previous XR model

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This replaced my older XR model. I was able to use them both same day with the same bit. This thing is a tank. It was drilling holes faster in the same blocks as my older model. It is slightly shorter than the older model, but the clutch feels more robust and clicks are more defined when swapping to and from hammer drill. I also like the redesigned handle. It has teeth to prevent it from slipping on the tougher jobs. The adjustable light is more helpful than I thought it would be. On top of a ladder in a drop ceiling being able to set the drill down and light up boxes to make joints with wire is convenient and requires one less tool. Overall a solid improvement over my older model.

Best Hammer drill yet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hi power flexibility with the DeWalt 12 volt XR! I'm really enjoying using this brushless hammer drill as there's no kickback and I do not have to worry about my hands getting hurt. The drill feels good in my hand and is easy to operate. I liked it it has three different speeds on the top in 15 different gears to be able to get the job done. The battery life on this is really well also as it lasts me a good while I'll also like that it has a light to see what I'm doing in dark spaces. I highly recommend this hammer drill!
