It's a workstation laptop. (a good one)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Yes, its a workstation laptop. That means it's heavy, the thermals are pushed to their limits (under load the CPU gets to 100c), and the battery life isnt great (about 3-4 hours max). The performace is fantastic for a laptop though, and so if that's what youre after, the affromentioned compromises are one's youre gonna have to make regardless of what brand you buy from IMO. 4k resolution in a screen this small looks phenominal. I wish the IO had display port, but other than that nothing to complain about.

Long-time Fan; Highly-Satisfied User

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When buying a computer, it has always been my strategy to purchase the fastest, most capable, most durable unit I can afford -- even if I must make sacrifices to find the funds to do so.
This strategy minimizes processing wait-time of every application for the life of the purchase, and therefore allows me to buy and utilize complex and powerful programs without hesitation. It also enables me to install software, transfer data, and complete other routine setup tasks as infrequently as possible, "maximizing the value of my purchase" and avoiding the tedious and repetitious tasks that come from buying "lesser" new computers at shorter intervals.
For these reasons and many others, buying a screaming-fast ThinkPad has continued to make sense to me for over three decades: I am a dedicated user and "fan" of the brand.
My new ThinkPad is a fine example of the effectiveness of this strategy. From the (incredibly bright, accurate, and detail-revealing) display; to the comfortable and crisp keyboard; to the H-U-G-E and quick fixed disk and RAM chips -- and to every other component and feature I might name -- this computer KICKS BUTT AND TAKES NAMES. Given the performance it has demonstrated in the first month I have owned it, I can be reasonably sure that (like each of its predecessors) it will last several years, delivering reliable and fast performance, and making me proud and glad for the decision I have made.

It Could Be Good For You Depending On Your Needs

OK. This is the first Lenovo laptop I've purchased. I ordered it with Windows 11 Pro, a 2 TB SSD drive, 64 GB RAM, and an 8 GB video card to approximate the power and speed of my former desktop tower. The laptop itself is heavy, but since it's being used a desktop power replacement that's an acceptable tradeoff. I've noticed that the cooling vents on the bottom seem to start to get covered with dust fairly quickly; that will mean that I'll want to blow away the dust once monthly with compressed air. *Now, a very important bit you'll want to read about Lenovo's ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Smart Dock. This is my exact review shown on the website where I purchased the dock, and is about the dock: Using Lenovo's own tech recommendations and support, this dock was connected to a *new* ThinkPad. I've had lots of problems with it. The displays sometimes freeze and I can't log in. And from a cold start to (two 27" HD) working displays takes 4 to 5 minutes, when it actually works without incident. Today when I came back to my desk after being away from several hours, only one of the two displays present was working. The machine had to be rebooted so the dock would show the second display. The only reason I’ll keep the dock and try and work with it is because Lenovo won’t have any excuses to try and point to another company’s dock as a source of any problems.
