I bought this because it was a very good price for a system with 32GB and 1TB storage. It works well, and lets me develop a blog using ASP.NET. No problem running SQL server and other software needed for it. As a thin laptop, I don't use it for games; it would probably overheat. But it does what I need it to do well.
This is the fourt HP laptop and they have all been quite functional - primarily used for MS Office applications (sometimes multiple apps and multiple files at the same time - Excel, Word, Power Point & Outlook). Occasional simple games while waiting on the phone. One issue with this new OmniBook 5 - the 'Copilot' key position seems to have displaced the CNTRL key on the right and is positioned so that a 'miss' using the left arrow brings up Copilot - a pain.
I bought this during a great sale specifically for portable amatuer radio use. The software isn't demanding, but light weight, good WiFi, a clear and bright screen, a familiar keyboard layout and othr features that this laptop have were important. I use 2 EliteDesk 800s in my home office and my main laptop is a 16" Envy with the i9 processor. Fro what I use it for, this seems just as fast. The screen is not a 4k, but the laptop weighs a lot less. I think this is a great laptop for what most people would use one for. At 62% off the full retail price, this is almost a must-buy item. performance and features right in the middle and a price down at the bottom. I have had nothing from HP computers for years, including an ultra lightweight but slower 16" with the N200 processor. There was nothing wrong with that laptop for indoor use, but the screen on the new OmniBook is soo much better in outdoor light (with shade) that I had to buy it!
Should really start off by saying that when you're looking for a good laptop it's usually very hard to find one that's just right for just the right price. Even harder when you're having to sort through the seemingly endless options available in the market of PCs today. Although, it's always possible to narrow the search down to those handful that are good and make no mistake this is the one that'll prove itself the one you'll actually buy. Whether you're one of those lucky ones (like myself) that got it for less than half its original price when it was on a special sale. Or the rest who bought it at full price.
Rest assured because you'll be receiving a computer that does what you'll need it to do and then some. With full high-definition display that'll let you see all you'll ever need to with no problem. With full high-quality speakers that'll let you hear all you'd ever need to with no issue. A keyboard that makes typing about as easy as it'd ever be. A touchpad that makes scrolling and moving the cursor about as good as you'd imagine it'd ever be.
The hard drive lets you keep all the digital memories you've made and will make very comfortably with just how large in size it all is. All the world's data is available to you with a wi-fi adapter that makes connecting easier than it's ever been before. Just make sure you have the internet connection ready since that's sold separately. Don't worry about outages because the built-in battery will keep the machine charged all throughout. Do all you can and worry less about lag with many cores that process it all for you with no issue.
Comes with plenty of software pre-installed that'll let you take care of work and enjoy yourself in play seamlessly so. Just be aware that not all of it's all you'd need and not all of it's all you'd want. Be mindful of what you have installed and uninstalled for that very reason. Moreover, since a lot of it's proprietary software so it's not free. Most of the software that'd work best on the default OS of this device will be proprietary and will be sold separately so remember that too. Overall, it's still worth the buy since you'll be needing this versatility and portability when you'll be doing anything almost anywhere in our world today.
So far, I am not loving this computer. It randomly freezes regularly and has to be turned off. The laptop also restarts randomly. I have adjusted the settings, and nothing seems to help.
