This antenna is small and compact, but does give you a bit more gain and directionality over the 1/4 wave vertical that's included with most radios. However, as your vehicle pitches and rolls over terrain, you don't get the dropouts that become a problem with the higher gain antennas because it still is basically an omni. In practice when installed, this performs about like a true dipole - and that's actually really good. I'll caution that this should be mounted high on the vehicle for best performance, if you don't have that sort of mounting point maybe look at the 6dbi whip - it won't perform in most circumstances as well as a Ghost on the roof, but not everybody's car has a good roof mounting point.

Nice compact antenna, gets great low swr measurment (1.2)on the lower GMRS channels and a little higher (1.7) on the repeater channels (reason for the star deduction). With no method to make adjustments, it is what it is, acceptable. I do like the size of the antenna and it will work great for group runs.
