Great Change

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Going from a 10 year old top loader to this new High Eff. (HE) front loader was very different. So here are pros and cons. Kids and I always had a hard time remembering what temp to set what color clothing. This washer does it for us! But, if we need to alter it we can. I love the lock out feature. Press and hold the buzzer button and it will lock so my 3 yr old doesn't alter my load. And yes the buzzer button is just that you can turn off or on that annoying buzzer sound. Thank you GE! But like with all products there are cons. Going from an older top loader to a front loader never would have thought I would need to "clean" the basket. If you don't leave the door open after the loads and don't "clean" it once a month it begins to smell. But GE did but a "basket cleaning" cycle on it. Apparently all front loaders have this issue. Another con is the fabric softener compartment. It tends to get clogged up. There's always water in that compartment so when I add the HE softener it shouldn't but it does. I also didn't like the fact that I had to replace all the laundry aides that I used. When you have and HE machine you have to buy the soap, etc that has the HE logo on it. Those are safe for your washer.

Excellent product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has been one of the best washers that we have owned. Have not had any problems with the unit. Cleans all loads very well with no issue even with maxing out with towels. Very stable and quiet unit.

This machine is SO quiet, you hardly know it's on! Several washing cycles to choose from, and the clothes come out clean!

LEMON Product

I bought this washer in April 2013 from a person who purchased it new in summer 2012. It worked for about 5 loads before I needed service. It is in a vacation house so it has been used a total of maybe 20 loads since I bought it. I have replaced the inverter board and I just replaced the hot water intake contol valve. It did not work even ONCE after the HW valve was replaced - will not agitate or spin. (Yes, I see that it is no longer manufactured. I am writing this review because I have had successful resolution of other appliances with probems after 1 or 2 repair efforts - NOT so with this one. It just keeps getting worse so I am going to take it to the recycling center.)
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Smaller than advertised

I only have one complaint and that is the size of the drum. This is advertised as large enough to wash a king size comforter but mine is not. I cannot even fit one into the drum much less wash it. If I had known, I would have chosen another model.

Has some fatal flaws

This unit began leaking onto the floor. It also smells like mildew no matter what we do to it. It's not very old and not cheap.
