Contractor Grade / Ideal Belt Sander

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you’re looking for a belt sander, look no further because this is it! The 36V Multi-Speed settings in this sander make it easily one of the best on the market. The dust collection is superb when hooked up with a dust collector and pretty good even with the stock bag attached. It’s a really well built and comfortable tool to use! The grips and handles are in the perfect locations and have the molded grips that make it so comfortable. The motor doesn’t seem to get too hot after running it, so you can sand as much as you need/want to, which is great! The belts are easy to come on and off. The belts do tend to slide a bit, but it’s expected with belt sanders.
I also really like the flat side, so I can run sideways and sand my little parts for signs. That works really well!
There was only one belt that came with the tool, which is my biggest con for the tool!

Fantastic, smooth belt sander

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pretty happy and impressed with this belt sander.
In the posted video I was sanding down a 16"x10' piece of Ash, with 3 pieces of wood and 2 glue joints.
It worked great!
It dials in nicely, it's smooth as you're going back and forth, and the belt stays in place.
Ash is pretty hard/dense, and it cleaned up the glue lines, and any little lips, with ease.
It's heavy enough for a belt sander, but not too heavy.
I do like that it's the 36V and can accept the AC adapter if desired.
It came with an 80 grit belt.
It didn't leave any harsh grooves or excessive marks. It just smoothly floated over the top.
I've never been a fan of belt sander until now, tbh.
I'll be putting this to good use, and always have it on me.
Obviously, it being cordless is very convenient.
I decided to take it with me to a job earlier, thinking I wasn't going to need it...and I definitely did. And glad I had it on me.

Excellent CORDLESS belt sander

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using this belt sander in the shop for the past month or so, and so far it’s been a workhorse. I’ve used it to chew through dried wood glue on some hard walnut with no resistance at all. Plenty of power in the 36v system. The perfect rough sander to get through the bulk of the material leading up to finish sanding.
Dust extraction works excellent and connects to my extractor with the adapter right out of the box - no need to buy anything extra.
Weight on this sander, with the battery attached, comes in at right about 10 pounds. Not something you want to be holding or using vertically for long periods, but for it’s intended purpose of making things flat, the weight is actually an advantage.
There is a fair amount of plastic, but the handles have a rubberized grip and are very comfortable to hold. The plastic used does not feel cheap and seems to be on par with other handheld power tools. It feels very well built. Drop risk is probably low given that it’s primarily going to be used flat, so for me the plastic body is a non-issue.
Tracking has worked perfect for me with minimal slipping. The adjustment is easy and intuitive, and except on a couple occasions it stayed true throughout my use.
Overall, a very well-built tool that seems to be priced right.

Have a German brand that I would love to have replaced with a Metabo! The ergonomics look great and if their power is like the 7 1/4 circular saw, I’d be in heaven.

Power and Balance

First impression: robust yet ergonomic. Then I used it and was blown away at the balance and power. My concern before using it was stalling under load. But it just kept plowing through. Belt loading is straight forward as it is with most belt sanders. The auto speed feature is a great to have on a cordless tool. It certainly conserves battery life and allows you the peace of mind of not having to change speeds manually. But if needed and unlike other cordless power tool companies you can use this one via mains power with their a/c adapter. Finally, the dust port is compatible with common hose sizes and even without the bag or a vac it directs dust away from you and the work area. Overall, it has unique features and power to place it above its competitors.

Freedom from Cords - Finally!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While I own many other cordless tools, I held off on buying a cordless belt sander until this one came along. These tools are power hungry, so I wasn't sold on 18v versions. The fact that this is 36v sold me, as did the fact it can be used with the AC adapter. The tool itself is surprisingly compact, with good ergonomics. And while belt sanders aren't very involved machines, this has a few nice features, such as decent dust extraction & a well placed variable speed dial. Oh, & this is a solid value, as the red & yellow 18v versions are considerably more expensive & lack the ability to be used with an adapter.
