Norelco's best shave yet...

I've only had this shaver for a couple of weeks so I cannot comment on long term battery life, blade life or reliability yet. I've had good luck with all my previous Norelco shavers over the years. The SensoTouch 3D is the best Norelco I've used yet in terms of closest shave and least amount of skin irritation. Used properly, it really does shave so well, its hard to tell you used an electric shaver. I still get a little pinkish on the neck sometimes, but it's hardly noticeable and clears up pretty quickly. I've not yet suffered any ingrown hairs as I have before on occasion with past shavers. I absolutely love the ease of maintenance: Pop open the 3 heads and turn the hose on it when you're done shaving. Then pull the whole head assembly off and let it air try and go about your day. It doesn't get much easier than that!
Two popular gripes that I've seen in the reviews that must be put into perspective: "The shaver cannot be used whilst charging." About an hour shave time and 1 hour charge and people still want to shave plugged in? Why? Even when you get to the last red bar, you have about 10-15 minutes of shave time. Just throw it in the charger once you hit the red bar! With the Lithium battery, you don't have to run it all the way down every time anyway. So this is really an unrealistic complaint.
"You can't see what your cutting whilst using the pop out trimmer". As I've stated in the first section of my review, the entire shaving assembly literally pulls right off. Do this and you'll see just fine. Pop the shaver assembly back on and you're good to go. Problem solved.
So to sum up. This is Norelco's best current offering and I don't think anyone would be disappointed by its performance. It does take a little getting used to due to the way the shave heads flex in all directions if you haven't used a SensoTouch before, but most should get the hang of it in no time. Should there be any reliability issues, I'll update this review accordingly. That said, as with any Norelco shaver, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get an electric shaver. Happy shaving!
Pros: great ergonomics, easy to clean, near razor blade closeness, battery life
As a blade shaver since I was young I was skeptical of trying to use an electric razor. But I was pleasantly surprised. I still don't get the very close shave that I used to get with a blade but that's to be expected. However, the shave that I get with this razor is pretty darn close! And I don't have to worry about the nicks and cuts I was getting with the blade, especially on the upper lip where I have a scar. That's always been a bad place to shave.
The blade does not perform as well as the original blade on the razor. It does not conform to the curves of the face or neck very well. Very disappointed in this purchase
Good close shave with no irritation, cuts long and short, thick and thin hairs. Trimmer feature is functional but is recessed under the blades. Sometimes the grip is uncomfortable when adjusting to shave different areas. Small quibbles - performance is great!
I have to shave for so long the rotary blades get hot, give me a rash & the razor scrapes my hair off & hurts. Side burn cutter too short

its quiet, and charges well...yet scrapes the hair off my face and has cut me and hurts when I shave. For the price a .10 cent single blade razor would do better for me
Pros: quiet, charges well, ornamental
Cons: long shaving creats hot blades, shaver scrapes hair off...not smooth, side burn cutter too short, bad shave
I have used the Philips Norelco GyroFlex 3D everyday, 7 days a week for almost 3 years now to keep my face and head cleanly shaved. It is by far the best, most comfortable electric shaver I've ever used. Wet or dry, it delivers a very close, very comfortable shave. I highly recommend it, especially to those who shave their heads.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Better than new models

I have used my SensoTouch 3D 1250X (now called Series 8000) for several years. Have replaced the head twice. Generally used in the shower with a bit of shaving cream. Decided to try the new Series 9000 Model 9300. Very disappointed. Have used for a couple of weeks and tried all three speeds. This new model does not even come close to the shave of my old one. I do understand the face needs to make an adjustment, but my skin is already used to an electric shaver. With my old one, I can actually get by shaving once every two days, but with the new one, I was already getting stubble by the end of one day. I will stay with my SensoTouch 1250X and replace it with another Senso/Series 8000 when need be. Sure am happy to see Norelco still has them.
