Cutting edge shaving technology

I have owned Philips razors for 40 years, I still have in operation a corded 6000 and (2) 7000 series, and this is by far a breakthrough. The 1250 is a revolution and no only an evolution. The 1050 reviews confused me, but the new 1250 design corrected all flaws. Shaving closeness is great but the shaver requires cleaning every other day due to beard powder spills.

Piece of junk

I have used Norelco shavers for several years. Each one I buy is progressively worse than the previous. This one is by far the worst. The heads inadvertently open during shaving, it takes longer to shave than with previous models, and the trimmer is virtually useless. You can't even see the end of the trimmer blade to see what you are trimming. To top it all off, you have to carry the entire stand with you in order to charge the shaver. I'll keep this shaver a year or so and then I'm going to try another brand. I stayed with Norelco/Phillips due to the name, but after buying this model, I'm through with this brand. I know this won't be read by anyone other than a clerk in the basement, but it's very sad to see how a product has gotten so bad over the years.
Pros: looks good
Cons: difficult to charge when traveling, doesn't cut smoothly, trimmer is difficult to use, shaver heads open during shaving, can't see the trimmer head when trimming

Best electric razor I have ever owned.

I previouly owned a old electric razor and I went to buy new a set of new blades. While I was looking I glanced at the Phillips Norleco SensoTouch 3D Electric razor 1250X 3 and started reading the contents on the box. A sample of the razor was shown as a display model. Phillips Norleco offered a 30 day guarantee just to try the razor. I decided immedialtey to buy the SensoTouch 3D Electric razor 1250X 3. It is a exlasty as advertised. It takes a third to the time to chanrge, a single change can last from a week to to days. This model is so light it is a pleasure to use. Best of all it gave Me the best shave I have had in years. With the new design it shaved all the hard spots on my face with ease. I love this razor and if you give it a try I am sure you feel the same.
Pros: shaves quickly, new sltyle makes it easy to hold
Cons: my hand slips over the on/off swithch.

Extremely Disappointed

I loved this razor when I first got it - best electric I'd owned: a quiet, smooth wet shave and a very acceptable dry shave. However... Within 5 months the smooth shave was gone completely, replaced by a head that was biting and tearing my skin. It needed to be replaced a full 7 months before the supposed life of the head! New head = brand new shave again - for 5 months. This razor has driven me back to shaving with a blade. My ratings reflect the fact that when everything is fresh and new, the razor works extremely well and is easy to use. But the head wears out too quickly and despite the elegant aesthetic design requiring the entire head to be replaced two to three times a year (instead of just the blades) is a major industrial design flaw.
Cons: short blade life, bad head/blade replacement design

Norelco electrics in general

I have been using Norelco electric razors, almost exclusively, for the better part of 40 years, and they are the best electric razors for men. I now have a Norelco 1255X, along with 3 older models, and I can find no real difference between this new, expensive Norelco and their older, less expensive razors. Same number of strokes to accomplish the same thing, and same after-shaving irritation. One noticeable difference is that the 1255X is a lot noisier than the older Norelcos- ESPECIALLY the trimmer. Do not know why. The old ones last forever, so I am hoping that this will be the last Norelco I have to buy.
My old Norelco razor died because I dropped it. I planned to buy another but purchased the more expensive SensoTouch 3D. It was hard to imagine any improvement over the previous model but I was hopeful that the newer one was not just stimulate sales. I am very pleased to learn the newer product is much better. The shape is more natural and takes less effort to hold which is a big plus for painful hands. The shaver is quieter and the batteries keep a more constant speed evan when nearly drained. While all these points are noteworthy I am most impressed that the SensoTouch 3D gives me a closer and quicker shave than your previous top model.
Pros: good grip, close shave, quiet but fast
Cons: soft travel case

Almost as good as using razor blades!

I read a lot of reviews on many different electric razors and decided to go witht the 1250XCC over the 1280XCC to save some money b/c i didnt need the digital read out. I switched from the Norelco Nivia shaver to this one and WOW what a difference. I have to shave every day and my face would get sore using conventional razors and even the Nivia model. This razor does an ecellent job with long hairs and shorts hairs. The nivia model had problems with hairs that were very short and curled back into the skin but this one gets them lifted up and cut off. It also gives a pretty close shave, not quite as smooth as a conventional razor but pretty close. It is very stylish and easy to use as well. It is very easy to clean as i open the heads every time i use it and rinse them out and then put it through the Jet cleaner every couple of days. I was skeptical that the jset clean system would do much but when i emptied it for the first time i was shocked at how much debris was actually in the solution! oh, i haven't really found a use for the trimmer yet so i can't really comment on it. Thanks Norelco for a great product and look forward to your other products (actually looking into the BG2040)...hope this helps in your search for a new razor!
Pros: easy to use, easy to clean, stylish, shaves pretty close but could be a little better
Cons: could shave a little closer, cannot charge without the jet clean station

I have had this razor for 2 years and it just would not turn on one morning. It gives a really close cut and have been very happy with it and will purchase another one. Make sure to register it they give you an extra six months on the warranty if you do this would have been cover if I had registered it.
