First of all, I was missing a piece on the stand. However, knowing lego’s reputation, I expect to have it replaced since it wasn’t on the actual fighter, but on the stand. I’m a 32 year old and this is my second Lego set I’ve ever built. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and saw this after watching the original trilogy on tv over Christmas and I had to get it. The flimsiness comments are from either people that try to speed build or don’t know how to follow directions. It’s a model for 18+, so if you’re playing with a model as an 18 year old, you may need to reevaluate your situation. If your kid wants to play with it, don’t let them, there are instructions at the front of the manual on how to hold the model correctly. Again, follow instructions and panels won’t fall off as others have said. Kind of funny seeing Lego snobs complain about this, clear indication they just speed build their sets. It’s a beautiful set and the engineering on it is amazing. Kudos to Lego designers, don’t know how they do this stuff.
I have close to 50 Lego models and this one is by far the most frustrating build I have ever done. The connections are weak. Every time you get one side one and try to put the other on, the first falls off. Awful. I have the first UCS x-wing from 2000 and it’s better in every way compared to this. Don’t waste your money. I can’t believe Lego allowed this design to go to market. Very disappointed.
Disappointed! I have never had so many missing and damaged pieces. Lego says they will replace pieces but that is of little comfort when I must be the one to contact them. I already have buyers remorse when spending this much money on Lego’s and this set is sagging flimsy and will have to be placed in a case to prevent someone walking too briskly past it and having it come apart. They should have recalled all of them when reports of this many unhappy builders. I hope the USC sets don’t continue to suffer with QC issues. As in the photo the canopy is warped beyond repair, the missing pieces I happen to have in abundance but the canopy is a special piece that will have to come from LEGO which again is a real bummer since I have to do all the work for a replacement part.
I was waiting for Lego to release a new X-Wing for quite some time and was pretty excited for the build. They missed the mark with this build. The panels are flimsy due to insufficient connection points. The use of rubber bands for the mechanical movement of the wings is a cheap cop-out. The bases used for the helmets are far superior than the base used for this model. The wings don’t stay up without assistance on the completed build. Every step of the build felt like this was a corner cutting cash grab. Do yourself a favor. Save your money and skip this one.
This is my first UCS build and currently I’m halted on finishing the first wing. Much like a lot of other people I am on my 10th missing piece. Luckily I have an extensive LEGO collection and I have been able to supplement and find the proper missing pieces but it just puts a halt on the build and has made this extremely frustrating. Really sours me to spend the money on other UCS sets if this is what I have to look forward to. This is the first time LEGO has ever let me down and we have a long history together!
I would recommend this to a friend!

We're sorry to hear about your frustration building this epic set and we never want our fans to feel let down. Please feel free to go to LEGO.build/BricksPieces-BV where you can request replacement pieces for your collection at no charge.
I know a lot of people complain about the panels not being secure and falling off; this wasn't a problem for me, but I was handling the model carefully. The real issue is the wing mechanism which has only one technic brick per wing for support. This is a major design flaw as it causes the wings to sag and twist. Otherwise I think the overall details and shaping of this X-wing are great and it looks awesome on my shelf! If you can get this at a good discount I'd recommend it, but personally I wouldn't buy at full retail.
I was very excited to get this set. I loved the way it looked on the box and thought it would look great on my shelf. However, once I excitedly started the build process, I was quickly very frustrated. Every single panel on the fuselage would not stay on. Every connection is extremely weak and every time you try to add onto the build, another part falls off. I spent HOURS rebuilding and reattaching every panel only for them to fall off again later in the building process. I asked others for help and none of them could get the build to stay together either. Ultimately, I completely gave up in frustration and am planning to return it.
Purchased this product over a year ago. It still sits on my entertainment stand, unfinished. The back panels near where the wings are is nigh impossible to put on. They’re medium sized pieces held by two sockets. You can get one side on but trying to get the other side on you just pop the others off. I’ve read it only gets worse as you build. I should have read reviews better prior to purchasing. I likely should’ve asked for a refund but I can assume too much time has passed. I’d also like to add though that this is my first purchasing issue with Lego as a brand. Unfortunate situation nonetheless
