It’s good…

Great size and external detail. Still don’t like stickers. Would like sets at this price and complexity point to come with printed pieces. Second, missing landing gear. The landing gear played significant role in the films when watching X-wings. Particularly the fore landing gear. Would have given 5 stars if there was landing gear

Poor Construction
on June 15, 2023
Posted by: AstonishedYam037
Notwithstanding any criticism of this product from other reviewers having to do with proportionality or aesthetics, this product hands-down represents the poorest construction of a Lego model I’ve ever seen.
I’ve built my fair share of Lego sets, big and small - I’ve earned 118,892 to-date. This is the first time I felt compelled to write a review, and I haven’t even started on step five (of ten).
This build is so finicky, so fragile, I feel like I’ve spent more time rebuilding it as it crumbles in my hands than I’ve spent making actual progress.
Accepting the design for what it is, my second criticism of this set is, when it comes to the most finicky or fragile sub-steps, the instructions as printed do not necessarily represent the most effective way to assemble certain elements without inadvertently popping of others. In the course of building this set, through trial and error, I’ve had to deviate from the instructions several times in order to avoid breakage. I like deviating from the instructions when it suits me, but for fun and not out of frustration.
Bottom line: I’ve spent less on better sets. This is a subpar entry in the Ultimate Collector’s Series, and all the more disappointing considering how excited I was to finally get my hands on the fabled X-Wing.

Disappointing at Best

I've tried twice to complete this kit and ended up putting it back in the box each time. Poor design, parts fall off and it's one of those one step forward and two or three back. Never should have gone to production. If I could return it, I would.

Better Than Expected

First—I’m addicted to Lego toys. That said, I’m not even a Star Wars fan, but I wanted to build a UCS something. And I had enough money to blow (doesn’t happen often). Fun build experience. Pleasantly surprised. Awesome finished product. Versed critics know what flaws to ID, and what perfection should look like. For me, I marvel at the building solutions. I can’t stop staring at it. Still not a Star Wars fan, but this model is top notch in my book.

The best X-Wing Yet
on June 7, 2023

First off, the nose cone is the correct color. If you have ever watched Star Wars, you will see that it is supposed to be white. The prints on the minifigures are outstanding. Lego finally went all out which I deeply appreciated. The build is an enjoyable one! I enjoyed seeing the advancements Lego has made over the years with its building techniques. You really get your bang for your buck on this one! I loved the printed plack too. It looks so much better than the old sticker plaques which were a nightmare to put on perfectly! I have enjoyed displaying this UCS X-Wing next to my original 2008 6212 X-Wing. Great job Lego!

Stunning but Flawed

I've found the 2023 UCS X-Wing to be a remarkable display set with a fun and engaging build process that showcases a ton of detail. The design is sleek and relatively easy to assemble but suffers a bit from repetition after the fuselage is complete. I do, however, have to criticize the disappointing choices for the wing assembly and the base supports. Like many others - I've experienced the issue of the wings drooping and there is noticeable asymmetry/misalignment in the wing positions due to the flexible support structure which detracts from the overall aesthetic. The use of the rubber bands for tensioning and the base support design are also perplexing choices for long-term display on what would otherwise be a near-perfect set.

Some nice angles but overall flawed
on June 4, 2023
Posted by: 11–Spitfire-11
Some points of critique:
- angled and tapered nose is aesthetically nice from SOME angles, but not from the side, the side look, which is the main view angle if placed on the stand as intended, makes the whole nose and nose cone look way too bulky. Sloppy even. The nose would have benefited from more work and techniques to make it more streamlined and true to the original including making the cockpit sit at the correct slanted angle.
- the model is too weak and flimsy. Mine literally just disintegrated sitting on a shelf. Especially the stand is too weak. For me the stand simply failed, which made the model in turn fall apart on the light impact. The plates on the sides, the nose, the wings just fell apart. As I tried to reattach the parts, even more of it came apart.
- the whole build is too simplistic for an UCS model. Which also contributes to the overall weakness of the model. Few connections here and there holding a lot of it together.
- the simplistic mechanism for the folding wings is not suitable for the weight of the wings. The wings droop in every possible direction. This I believe resulted in the designers trying to make the wings lighter by some very weak connections, but it didn’t do the trick and now the wings are just drooping in different directions as well as being weak. And the wings close so that there is a gap in between them. Which just makes the whole thing look like a bad and cheap knockoff.
- the R2D2… why? Just why? It looks like a prank. It’s probably because a larger bodied R2 would not fit, but this off scale one just looks silly.
Overall this model feels rushed to market. with corners cut. And it’s not fitting for an UCS model. Lego has some amazing models with some amazing design that just impresses as you build them, the most recent tumbler, the icon cars, the large technic sports cars etc. but this model is probably the most simplistic in technique I’ve ever built and just somehow lacked the sophistication I would have expected of a model with this price tag.

Very Fragile Build

This is a very fragile build. Random panels fall off, huge gaps and a flimsy stand! How did this pass your quailty control.
