Missing Bags

I received this as a birthday present and was very excited to build it. It didn’t take long before I noticed that this set was missing the entire #3 bag. For the price that my wife paid this is completely unacceptable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

3rd gen and not getting better...

One would think with this being Lego's 3rd UCS X-wing that they would have improved on the design.
Unfortunately this is NOT the case, a +20% increase in price and what seems to be a rushed design ends with a money grab on the Star Wars IP fans. This model is only good as a display piece with the s-foils in attack position. The gap and saggy wings are real. Seems like this nearly 50 year old IP has ED. Rubber bands over mechanical gears control the foils and they underperform at best. Very disappointed in the apparent lack of quality in the design process. I hold Lego to higher standards but apparently they dont. I like the printed plaque and cockpit but maybe protect them so they do arrive all scratched up.

Most fragile Lego set I've ever built

In attempting to move this set and place on a display stand (which I did because I don't like what this comes with, and I needed something more vertical for space) pretty much every outer piece on the main shaft has broken and fallen off. I have a lot of UCS Star Wars Lego and not had an issue REMOTELY this bad and frustrating. The amount of large pieces with extraordinarily weak connection points in hard-to-repair areas is astounding, and I'm honestly shocked it made it through review and testing. Easily the most fragile Lego set I've ever experienced. I'd also echo common complaints about my windshield having small scratches due to no outer packaging and the disappointing stud in the middle of the plaque, which is not on the box art. First UCS set I absolutely regret buying.

The design leaves the model extremely fragile and flimsy. The fuselage side covers constantly fall off do to and any vibration and then gravity takes over. Worst set I've ever built. Extremely poor value for the money.

putting the wings on the mechanism for holding the wings just fell apart on it’s own and can’t be fixed without taking most of the ship apart. do not recommend

I knew this one didn’t match up price-wise with some other similar size ships. I have built both the Guardians ship and Batwing. Both were more detailed builds and considerably less expensive. The X-Wing is iconic though and will look great mounted on my wall, so I paid the extra money. The build was fun. The wing adjust knob works well, but overall the thing is super flimsy. Taking the X-Wing off the stand and walking upstairs caused numerous panels to fall off the side and were tedious to put back on without completely removing the wings. There is no right way to hold the model without it breaking. It’s on the wall now in one piece, so I’m happy, but there might have been some foul language getting it there.
I would recommend this to a friend!
