Cool set with some unnecessary hate

In my opinion, there’s a lot of unnecessary hate in the reviews. It’s an engaging build (although expectedly the wings are repetitive) and it is an awesome display set. But that’s what it is. A display set. And that’s okay! Some of the panels do fall off due to poor connection points, but it isn’t a play scale X-Wing. I made some of my own modifications to tighten the wing mechanism and bring the engines closer to the body; that’s part of the fun of Lego for me. For what it’s worth, I really enjoy this set. I’m surprised to see it ranked so poorly.
Nice looking fighter. Drawbacks are that panels around wings fall off easily if trying to handle product. Parts on stand where fighter sits constantly fall off as well as other parts. Many parts are held on with minimal lego support that many pieces fall off if this is barley touched. Quiet frustrating. All other usc series of star wars r2d2 , landspeeder, and millennium falcon all well built and sturdy. Very disappointed after the money this cost.
pretty big let-down. the set looks super cool in pictures, but IRL is really flimsy and feels delicate. the build process was pretty disappointing as well. it was difficult to keep together in several sections. the wings are probably the biggest disappointment - they're VERY flimsy and unstable. honestly, i wouldn't recommend to anyone.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The ship looks great from a distance and online, but if you get close you see the poor panel gaps, mis colored nose, VERY saggy wings (6 months old at this point), and the flimsy stand that falls apart if a breeze catches the ship. I expected better from a 240 dollar set.
I should have read the other reviews before purchasing. The mechanism for connecting the sides to the body is incredibly poorly designed and pieces fall off with any amount of pressure. I can’t complete the build without breaking things. Awful set.
This unfortunately was my first UCS letdown. The design is too fragile, the wings cannot close, I was so disappointed I tore it down for parts hoping to find a MOC one day that improves on the design.
I was pumped to get this set and start building. It has been sitting on my desk in various stage of construction and falling apart for months now. I am an intermediate builder at best, but this was the most frustrating Lego experience I have ever had. The build is so flimsy and held together by one or two pieces. I had to build and rebuild the sides of the nose more times than i can count.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience when building your new LEGO® set. We can help guide the build, to make sure every piece is secure and that your set isn't flimsy. You can find our contact info at LEGO.build/Service-BV.
The X-Wing looks decent, but the wings don't hold well. When closed they are not tight. The mechanism to open them doesn't have a hard stop when they are open and closed, instead it can be perpetually rotated so you might think it turn a bit more to tighten the closed wings then you find it's back to start and they are opening again. Also every time I move it, the support pieces on the stand come off as well as some part of the X-Wing. You pretty much have to build it, place it then leave it alone. Was hoping for a more stable design for this price point.
