Disappointed and frustrated

I received this set as a gift and was very excited and really looking forward to building the set. The X-Wing is my all-time favorite star ship. I unboxed the set with great anticipation.
Imagine my dismay when I found I was missing a piece. To LEGO's credit they replaced the missing piece promptly. Thank you!
However my joy at building the set has quickly dissipated and turned into disappointment and frustration. I have never used the word "fragile" when describing any LEGO set (and I have built hundreds over the years). The front panels of this set are most definitely fragile. The two assemblies on left and right of the ship's nose refuse the stay on and fall apart very easily. I have rebuilt both several sides times to verify I have followed the instructions correcly only to face the same end result. I can't believe it but I look at the unfinished ship with dread and not joy.
Is there anything you can do? I have considered purchasing/building other Starwars sets, but this experience and price has me leaning towards not purchasing any additional sets fearing I will face the same issues.
Love the X-Wing fighter from back in the day, & already had the smaller set of this one, but had to have the larger & more piece count one of course!☺️ some of the build was a bit frustrating. As pieces weren’t all that secure. The sides kept falling off, but made a modification & it worked!;) I took a couple pics, as the black piece from the cockpit stuck out too much, & this mod pushed it back & lined up better imho. It’s not the most robust of my collection (currently working on the AT-AT) but love the sheer size of this one! Would recommend again —

If your set seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. You’ll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together. Feel free to reach out to us at LEGO.build/Service-BV if you need assistance!
There were many mixed reviews but I bought it anyway and it was just fine no missing pieces I finished with extra pieces the wings are attached for sturdy and am not afraid of moving it at all. It’s a Lego though so of course if you are rough with it something could come apart. It’s aged appropriately for it to be a display not a child’s play toy if I let a kid play with it, it would definitely break. The bad reviews on this item made the experience worse for me because I was nervous the whole time that I may have made a bad purchase, that there would be missing pieces or it would be to fragile to assemble but it turned out great and I recommend to anyone who was considering but hesitant because of reviews. I’m 32 and haven’t built legos in a long time this is my first set in adulthood and it took me around 4 hours to complete. Last phot is all the extra pieces this only made me nervous that I missed something but they were definitely just duplicates.
As others have mentioned, this is a very fragile/flimsy build. The body panels are continually falling off as you try and assemble the rest of the ship. They only have a few contact points so you can barely pick it up without large sections popping off. This is only the second large Lego build I have done. The first was the 1989 Batwing and that thing is built like a tank -- so this was a major let-down. It looks great, but I can't say I would recommend it.

I've had this set since it was released and have built it, moved to a new state with it, and put it together after the move. I usually enjoy the UCS sets even though I wish Lego branched out a little bit (A UCS Naboo Fighter, or some UCS Pod Racers would be awesome). Anyway, I wanted to like this set, the look is good, but the design is so flimsy. If you attempt to move this thing it begins to just fall apart. The two bricks on the front and back of the top of the stand just pop off constantly with the weight of the model on top. Most of other UCS sets and the previous X-Wing included are relatively solid. Not that you can drop them and they won't break, but that you can pick them up, move them, even fly them around if you want and they will rarely just crumble to pieces. Not so with this one. I expected a bit more out of a third iteration of the UCS X-Wing. While it looks good, I think this one is a step back because of the absolutely flimsy design. I give it 3 stars here, but honestly its probably two and a half.
I'm a huge Star Wars fan and LOVE the stories about the x-wings. I was so excited to get this home, but I'm just so disappointed. It is beautiful, but really fragile and falling apart all the time I touch it. The stander gives the wrong view and does not show it in a good way. Cause of that I have changed the stander, but still not good, but better wiev. If I could get my money back I would do it. Not worth the money.

This was a fun build. I grew up on Star Wars IV-VI and it was like having a piece of Luke Skywalker with me as I built it. Very nostalgic. Had to take it down for the holidays but looking forward to building it again and putting it with my Millennium Falcon for display.
