Flimsy - do not try to transform

If by transform, Lego meant "falls apart the minute you touch it", then they nailed it. It's not bad looking and I was skeptical of its ability to actually transform and I was right. It's barely held together at the waist, so it just breaks the minute you try to move it. As a piece to put on a shelf, it's fine. Except, his head is very, very tiny.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Optimus should be able to transform smoothly. Some rebuilding might be needed. Make sure all the parts are tightly pressed together. If you need help with the build, reach out to us at LEGO.build/Service-BV.

Not a toy to play with

We are disappointed with this one... as my son likes to play with the models. They are not meant to be just built and then sit on some self...
The truck version is fine, but the bot itself has a major issue with insufficient support for the middle part. The upper part and bottom part of the figure disconnect all the time when we try to play with it.
The same mechanism is used for models that carry less weight like Lego 71738 and it works. But this model is just too heavy for a solution like this 🤷♀️
We are really sorry to see that Lego is building models only to be built and displayed, not to be really played with 😥

Optimus prime

I have all of the Lego creator and technic sets and I have to say this is the worst fitting together kit I’ve have ever experienced. When folded up it just flops around gaps won’t close correctly. Try to pick it up and parts start falling off. I love Lego and will keep my collection growing but in the future I wish it were more sturdy. Cool model don’t get me wrong but probably would have been better if it were technic with more pins and beams to lock together better…. just my opinion

If your set seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. Great for display, not for Play

The build was really fun. However, as the build actually transforms the joints are on the weak side. With that in mine once it was in place I don't want to pick it up and transform it more then every now and then. The set itself is amazing. My husband grew up with the older transformers animated movie so this was a must get for us. I do not regret getting this set but I am terrified about my younger children getting a hold of it as it will not hold up to them playing with it. If you are looking for a unique transformer and lego to display then this is amazing. If you want it to be able to play with then do not get this as the waist, the thumbs, and the ankle braces ( the ones with the clear red on the top of the foot) are weak points and fall apart easily.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awesome throwback and great memories

I had a nice long review written out for this, but everything I wanted to say has already been put out there. The one thing I do want to express adamantly though, and this is directed at LEGO, not at the customers; you have to release a Megatron model since you have put out Optimus. I know LEGO doesn't make weapons or things like that for moral reasons, and I totally understand that. The problem is though, you can't release the good guy and not have his mortal enemy too. They are Yin and Yang, diametrically opposite; there can't be one without the other. I really enjoy this model, but I bought it because I expected to see Megatron come out too. I'm guessing I'm not alone in this. I would love to see a whole Transformers run with some of the big names- Starscream, Soundwave, Bumblebee, Ironhide, etc. Also if you could design and release a massive Devastator, that would be awesome!

G1 fans rollout... the cash and buy this awesome set! in fact I'd say buy 2 or more, then keep them sealed because this is an instant collector set
